Real Madrid defeated their eternal rivals Barcelona with a narrow 2-1 scoreline in a heated El Clasico match in the Spanish La Liga. This victory at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday, October 26, 2025, was marked by a missed penalty, a red card, and altercations between players.

In front of thousands of their loyal supporters, Madrid played aggressively from the opening minutes. Kylian Mbappe broke through Barcelona's goal in the 12th minute, but the goal was disallowed by VAR because the former PSG star was offside.

Ten minutes later, Mbappe once again breached Madrid's goal. Utilizing a through pass from Jude Bellingham, the French star calmly beat goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.

Trailing by a goal, Barcelona reacted quickly by increasing the intensity of their attack. Their efforts bore fruit in the 38th minute through Fermin Lopez's strike, maximizing Marcus Rashford's assist. The score became 1-1.

However, Madrid didn't take long to regain the lead. Five minutes later, Bellingham put Madrid back in front, capitalizing on Eder Militao's headed ball in the 43rd minute. That lead held until halftime.

Entering the second half, the match grew increasingly heated. In the 52nd minute, Madrid had a chance to extend their lead after being awarded a penalty due to Eric Garcia's handball. Unfortunately, Mbappe's execution was saved by Szczesny.

Blaugrana did have more possession, but Madrid's solid defense made it difficult for them to create clear chances.

Barcelona's situation became even more difficult when Pedri was shown a second yellow card after fouling Aurelien Tchouameni, forcing the visitors to play with 10 men. This incident briefly triggered an altercation near the stadium tunnel, but tensions were eventually calmed by both teams.

Until the final whistle blew, the 2-1 scoreline remained unchanged. Madrid closed the match with an important victory that solidified their position at the top of the standings with 27 points from 10 matches. Meanwhile, Barcelona is stuck in second place with 22 points from the same number of games.

Tensions hadn't fully subsided when several players became involved in arguments near the sidelines, adding to the heated atmosphere of this El Clasico.
