UEFA Champions League enters a crucial stage. The final matchday of the league phase determines the fate of Europe's elite clubs for automatic qualification to the Round of 16 or the play-offs. From Paris Saint Germain (PSG) to Barcelona, coaches are voicing their readiness, caution, and confidence ahead of the decisive matches.

Inter Milan arrive at Signal Iduna Park with a heavy mission. Cristian Chivu's squad must win against Borussia Dortmund to keep their hopes alive for a top-eight finish and automatic qualification to the Round of 16.

"We are currently 14th in the Champions League standings, while our target is to finish in the top eight. The match against Dortmund is extremely important," said Chivu on Inter's official website, Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

Inter currently have 12 points from seven matches, one point behind the top-eight zone. Victory is non-negotiable, although their fate still depends on other teams' results.

Chivu is not blind to the significant challenge awaiting his team in Germany. Dortmund under Niko Kovac are in good form and will have full support from their fans.

"They play a more dominant style, are good in transition, and have excellent movement in the attacking line. This won't be easy," said Chivu.

Inter are trying to bounce back after a 1-3 defeat to Arsenal at Giuseppe Meazza, a result that has increased the pressure on this final match.

Liverpool vs Qarabag

Meanwhile at Anfield, Liverpool find themselves in a similar situation. The Reds host Qarabag aiming for a win to secure a direct ticket to the knockout phase.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot warned his players not to underestimate the Azerbaijani representatives.

"They have proven themselves this season against big clubs that they are a very good team and hard to beat. Even against Chelsea, they managed a 2-2 draw," said Slot on Liverpool's website on Wednesday.

Liverpool are currently fourth in the league phase standings with 15 points from seven matches. Slot remains optimistic his team can achieve the best result, considering the strength of the opponents they have faced so far.

Barcelona vs Copenhagen

At Camp Nou, Barcelona face a Do-or-Die Match against Copenhagen. Blaugrana are in ninth place with 13 points and must win to ensure automatic qualification.

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick emphasized focusing fully on his team's own performance. According to him, the most important thing is to do a good job and play at the highest level.

While confident, Flick acknowledged the match won't be easy.

"We are confident in our style of play, in how we play, and this is the Champions League. We have to show our best level," stressed Flick on Barcelona's website, Wednesday.

"We have a good squad, on the bench too, and we have to play as a team. This match is very important for us," he said.

Paris Saint-Germain vs Newcastle

Similar pressure is felt by Paris Saint-Germain who will host Newcastle at Parc des Princes.

PSG are in sixth place with 13 points, ahead of eighth-placed Newcastle on goal difference.

PSG coach Luis Enrique stated his team is targeting victory to avoid the playoff route.

"If we win, we could finish sixth, but if you say we have to go through the playoff round like last season, then I have to win the Champions League," said Enrique on PSG's website, Wednesday.

Nevertheless, Enrique asserted PSG are ready for any possibility.

"We are a great team, and we will prove it again," said Enrique.

Last season, PSG made history by winning the Champions League for the first time after defeating Inter Milan 5-0 in the final, although they had to go through the playoffs after finishing 15th in the league phase.

The top eight teams (positions 1-8) will qualify directly for the Round of 16. Teams placed 9th to 24th will compete for eight tickets through the play-offs.

In the final league phase matches, one message resonates across all stadiums: there is no room for error. The Champions League once again proves that small details, strong mentality, and one victory can change everything.
