Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) secured their ticket to the semifinals of the Champions League after defeating Liverpool 2-0 in the second leg of the Quarter Finals at Anfield, early Wednesday morning WIB. This victory confirmed the dominance of the French representative who were effective in crucial moments.

The two winning goals for the visiting team were scored by Ousmane Dembele in the second half. The French striker made the difference with clinical finishing that Liverpool's defense could not contain.

Playing in front of their own fans, Liverpool tried to be aggressive from the start of the match. However, the first chance actually came from PSG through a long-range shot by Warren Zaire-Emery that hit the home team's defense.

Not long after, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia forced Goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili to make an important save. Liverpool responded through a header by Alexander Isak, but Matvey Safonov was solid under the bar.

Entering the second half, the tempo of the match increased. Liverpool were awarded a penalty in the 64th minute after Alexis Mac Allister went down, but it was overturned by VAR, becoming a turning point that was detrimental to the home side.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 72nd minute. Starting from a pass by Kvaratskhelia, Dembele made a deceptive move before releasing an accurate shot into the corner of the goal that Mamardashvili failed to reach.

PSG then sealed the victory in injury time through Dembele's second goal after capitalizing on a pass from Bradley Barcola.

This result secured their progress to the semifinals with a 4-0 aggregate victory. They will face the winner of the match between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

Barcelona Win, But Are Eliminated

Meanwhile, Barcelona had to swallow a bitter reality despite achieving a 2-1 victory over Atletico Madrid in the second leg at the Metropolitano Stadium. The result was not enough to take them to the semifinals.

Atletico eliminated Barcelona thanks to a 3-2 aggregate advantage after previously winning 2-0 in the first leg. The aggregate became the decisive factor that stopped the progress of Hansi Flick's squad.

Barcelona won the second leg thanks to goals from Lamine Yamal and Ferran Torres. These two goals gave the visiting team hope to turn the situation around.

From the start of the match, Barcelona appeared aggressive in order to chase a two-goal deficit. Their efforts immediately bore fruit in the 4th minute when Yamal scored the opening goal by capitalizing on a pass from Ferran Torres.

The visitors doubled their lead in the 24th minute through Torres. A through pass by Dani Olmo was successfully finished well, so the aggregate was temporarily tied at 2-2.

However, Atletico responded quickly. In the 31st minute, a counterattack created by Marcos Llorente. His cross was converted by Ademola Lookman to restore the aggregate lead for the home team.

Barcelona continued to press in the second half, but the situation became more difficult after Eric Garcia was shown a red card in the 80th minute. Although they created a number of chances in the remaining time, the 2-1 victory was still not enough and Barcelona had to be eliminated from the Champions League.
