Persebaya Surabaya claimed the 2026 President's Cup title after defeating Persib Bandung 6-5 in a dramatic penalty shootout during the final match held at Kapten I Wayan Dipta Stadium, Gianyar, Bali on Thursday evening, 6 August. This trophy marks the first major pre-season honour ever won by the Bajul Ijo squad.
The final was tightly contested from the opening minute. Persebaya broke the deadlock in the 20th minute, when Ramadhan Sananta fired a finish past Persib's goalkeeper to put the Surabaya side 1-0 ahead.
This lead did not hold for long. Just four minutes later, Patricio Matricardi equalised for Persib after capitalising on a defensive lapse from Persebaya's backline.

The Argentinian defender converted the close-range chance from inside the penalty area to level the score at 1-1.
Persib went close again through Balsa Sekulic in the 29th minute, but his effort was parried away by Ernando Ari. The score remained deadlocked going into the half-time interval.
Upon the restart of the second half, Persib dominated possession and match control, while Persebaya operated on rapid counter-attacks. Both sides created clear goalscoring opportunities, but no further goals were registered by the end of normal regulation time.

During extra time, Persib were reduced to 10 men in the 112th minute following a straight red card shown to Mario Peralta.
Despite holding the numerical advantage, Persebaya were unable to find a winning goal before extra time expired, leaving the score locked at 1-1.
The tie progressed to a penalty shootout. Persib's first taker Uilliam Barros saw his kick saved by Persebaya substitute goalkeeper Reza Pratama.
Persib received a reprieve when Yuran Fernandes' penalty was stopped by their own replacement keeper Fitrah Maulana.
However, Persib's seventh penalty taker Hamra Hamzah was also unable to beat Reza Pratama from the spot.
Persebaya's final taker Gledson Paixao converted the decisive kick, sealing the 6-5 shootout victory for Bajul Ijo.
