Manchester United legend Luis Nani once again greeted the Red Devils fans in Indonesia. For the third time, the explosive former Portuguese winger attended a meet and greet event at the official adidas store in Pacific Place, South Jakarta, on Friday, October 24, 2025.

Despite retiring from professional football in August 2024, fan enthusiasm for him remains incredible. Nani's smile seems unchanged, as does his signature relaxed style, complete with friendly gestures when greeting supporters.

"And I'm starting to get used to coming here because this country is very beautiful. The cities are beautiful," said Nani.

Feeling at Home

Nani, now 38 years old, admitted he is always impressed by the atmosphere in Indonesia. He believes the hospitality of Indonesian people makes him feel welcomed every time he visits the country.

"The people here are very friendly and they receive you very well. They treat you like you're one of them. And that really helps you feel comfortable and enjoy your journey here," he stated.

For Nani, Indonesia isn't just an exotic tour destination. He said the atmosphere of Jakarta and the warm welcome from fans makes him "feel right at home."

Nani's presence adds to the long list of Manchester United legends who have visited Indonesia, following in the footsteps of Dwight Yorke, Andy Cole, and Rio Ferdinand. This phenomenon is strong proof of how massive the Red Devils' fanbase is in Indonesia, one of the largest in the world, with over 7 million active followers on social media, according to 2024 Facebook Audience Insights data.

Legacy from Ferguson's Golden Era

Nani strengthened Manchester United for eight seasons after joining from Sporting Lisbon in 2007. He made 230 appearances, scoring 41 goals and providing 66 assists, becoming a key part of the glory era under Sir Alex Ferguson.

During his time of service, Nani helped deliver 12 prestigious trophies, including four Premier League titles, two League Cups, and of course, the 2008 Champions League, a moment he describes as one of the most precious memories of his career.

"My best memories are all the trophies. We won together. In that magical area. With all the superstars. All the great players. We played together. That's my best memory."

"Because without those players, we couldn't have won so much for that club. And playing under Alex Ferguson. That was something special. Very special," Nani recounted.

Flashback from the Moscow Night

The 2008 Champions League final in Moscow witnessed the greatness of Manchester United's golden generation. In the dramatic match against Chelsea that ended in a penalty shootout, Nani played for 19 minutes and took a penalty kick that helped United win 7–6.

That was the first European final of three Champions League finals he experienced with United, an extraordinary achievement for the player from Amadora, Portugal.

"I had this opportunity. I played in three finals. I think I'm a lucky person. While playing for a club as big as United," he said with a proud smile.

Nani, Nostalgia, and the New Energy of Indonesian Fans

Nani's presence in Jakarta isn't just about nostalgia. For many young fans, especially the generation who grew up in the 2000s, Nani is a symbol of football full of flair – rapid step-overs, acrobatic celebrations, and the distinctive self-assured aura of a Latin European player.

This event also reinforces the connection between the world of sports, lifestyle, and modern fan communities, which have now become an important part of global sports culture.

For MGPA, ITDC, and sportswear brands like adidas, moments like this are a way to build a sustainable sports ecosystem, not only through competition but also through vibrant fan engagement.

And for Nani himself, Indonesia always remains a "second home," where old stories from Old Trafford come alive again in the smiles of thousands of fans welcoming him with open arms.
