Indonesia Open 2026 is not only a competition arena for the world's best Badminton players, but also holds a critical role in national athlete development and regeneration. This BWF World Tour Super 1000 tier tournament acts as a platform for young Indonesian talents to measure their capabilities while gaining experience competing against elite global players.
Amidst the intense competition of international badminton, the chance to compete in a prestigious event like the Indonesia Open is a vital milestone in preparing the next generation of athletes for global competition. Match experience against world-class opponents is proven to accelerate athlete development, both in technical skill and competitive mentality.
"The opportunity to perform at a tournament of Indonesia Open's standard is a fundamental part of an athlete's journey to reach the highest level of the sport. Experience facing elite world players will become invaluable foundation to build character, competitive mindset, and overall game quality for Indonesia's young athletes," stated BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo in an official written statement released in Jakarta, Thursday.

According to Okki, high-level competitive match experience is one of the core driving factors for young athlete growth. Beyond improving technical game quality, this exposure also strengthens self-confidence and competitive resilience when facing opponents from other countries.
He noted that athlete regeneration does not only require raw talent, but also opportunities to compete within the atmosphere of world-class competition. For this reason, sustained support for young athletes is a critical aspect to preserve the winning legacy of Indonesian Badminton.
This support is implemented through ongoing collaboration between PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk and PBSI, which has long focused on national youth talent development. This partnership covers structured athlete coaching starting from early age groups, as well as backing for various national and international competitions.
One example of young athletes granted the opportunity at Indonesia Open 2026 is the Men's Doubles pair Devin Artha Wahyudi / Ali Faathir Rayhan. Both athletes are currently enrolled in the PBSI National Training Camp and continue to demonstrate promising progress.
Devin and Faathir's performance across multiple international tournaments serves as proof that Indonesia still maintains a pipeline of high-potential young talent. This pair secured championship titles at the 2025 Toyota Thailand International Challenge and 2025 Odisha Masters in India.
"Devin and Faathir's achievements show that Indonesia never lacks talented athletes. What is required is the space to develop, sufficient competitive match experience, and consistent support from across the entire Sports Ecosystem," he concluded.
