Indonesia still holds hope of claiming the title at Thailand Open 2026 after men's doubles pair Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin secured a convincing spot in the semi-finals. Meanwhile, the campaign for Women's Doubles duo Isyana Syahira Meida/Rinjani Kwinnara Nastine came to an end in the Quarter Finals following their defeat against Japan's top seeds.

Competing in Bangkok, Leo/Daniel displayed full dominance when facing home representatives Peeratchai Sukphun/Pakkapon Teeraratsakul. The Indonesian pair took the match in straight games with scores of 21-16 and 21-15.

Leo/Daniel took control of the match right from the start of the first game. A fast-paced pressure sequence earned them six consecutive points, building an early 6-0 lead over the Thai pairing.

Maintaining high tempo and consistent attacks, Leo/Daniel extended their gap to a 14-4 advantage at the mid-game interval of the first set, before closing out the game with a 21-16 win.

This dominance continued into the second game. Peeratchai/Pakkapon struggled to establish their rhythm as Leo/Daniel kept applying constant pressure right from the start of every rally.

The Indonesian pair even pulled ahead by nine points at 13-4, before sealing the 21-15 victory and confirming their semi-final ticket for the Thailand Open 2026.

"Thank God, we are grateful. Playing against a home side is never easy, but we managed to take control of the match right from the beginning. We did lose focus briefly after the first game interval, which made us drop quite a few points. But we were able to fix that afterwards," stated Daniel after the match, as quoted from PBSI's official statement.

Leo/Daniel will face a tougher challenge in the semi-final round. They are scheduled to go up against Chinese pair He Ji Ting/Ren Xiang Yu for a place in the final of this BWF Super 500 tournament.

"We have faced them before, so we will review how that match went, and make sure we do not repeat the same mistakes this time," said Leo.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian women's doubles squad had a different outcome. Isyana Syahira Meida/Rinjani Kwinnara Nastine were unable to advance further, falling to Japan's top seeds Rin Iwanaga/Kie Nakanishi in a three-game battle that finished 12-21, 21-12, 17-21.

In the opening game, Isyana/Rinjani struggled to handle their opponents' fast attacking patterns. Sustained pressure threw the Indonesian pair off their game rhythm, leaving them trailing by a significant margin.

They fought back in the second game. Calmer, more focused play allowed Isyana/Rinjani to dominate the set and force the match into a deciding third game.

"For today's match, we felt quite lost especially in the first game. Then we managed to play more calmly, relaxed and focused during the second set. It was a close point-for-point battle in the third game, but we have to admit that they stayed more composed during the closing critical points," explained Isyana, quoted from PBSI.

A tight contest unfolded in the third game as both pairs traded points back and forth. Unfortunately, the Japanese side kept their cool better during the high-pressure moments, allowing them to take control of the match until the final point.

"On top of that, we also failed to capitalise on our opportunities in the third game, which let them take control in the final stages," added Rinjani.

Despite missing out on a semi-final spot, Isyana/Rinjani remain grateful for their run at the Thailand Open 2026.

"Alhamdulillah, we are thankful to have reached the quarter finals—opponents have been difficult ever since the first round, so this is a result we can be grateful for. Of course we will keep learning, and hopefully we can achieve a better result next week at the Malaysia Masters," concluded Rinjani.
