Indonesian tennis player Janice Tjen's run in the 2026 Wimbledon singles draw has ended at the second round. Despite showing promising form to claim the first set, Janice was ultimately defeated by Australian athlete Daria Kasatkina in a three-set battle at the All England Club, London.

Making her first ever Wimbledon appearance, the Indonesian competitor fell with a final score of 7-6(5), 1-6, 4-6 after 2 hours and 37 minutes of play. This result concludes her singles campaign, but remains a positive achievement as she reached the second round on her tournament debut.

Janice opened the match with full confidence. Both players were evenly matched throughout the opening set, holding all their respective service games to level the score at 6-6, forcing the set to be decided via tie-break.

In this critical moment, the Jakarta-born player displayed impressive competitive mentality. After falling behind 1-5, Janice mounted a comeback before closing the tie-break 7-5 to take the first set.

However, momentum shifted completely entering the second set. Daria Kasatkina found her optimum playing rhythm and began applying consistent pressure from the very start of the set.

The world number 65 broke Janice's serve twice to build an uncatchable lead. Kasatkina eventually closed the second set with a dominant 6-1 scoreline, sending the match to a deciding third set.

The final deciding set was far more tightly contested. Both players exchanged service breaks early in the set before Kasatkina converted a crucial break opportunity in the eighth game. She successfully maintained this advantage until the end of the match.

Kasatkina sealed the 6-4 set victory after successfully converting her match point in the final game, securing her ticket to the next tournament round.

Statistically, Kasatkina performed with greater efficiency across the full duration of the match. She won 63 out of 90 points (70%) on successful first serves, while Janice claimed 34 out of 57 points (60%) on her own first serves.

Official Wimbledon match data showed Kasatkina held clear dominance at the net. The Australian player won 28 out of 31 net points for a 90% success rate, while Janice recorded 11 wins from 17 net points at a 65% conversion rate.

For attacking output, Kasatkina produced 37 winners matched with an equal 37 unforced errors. Janice meanwhile registered 26 winners, but committed 40 unforced errors which impacted the course of the match.

Although her singles run has now ended, Janice has left a positive impression on her 2026 Wimbledon debut. The 24 year old athlete still has the opportunity to continue her campaign at the All England Club in the doubles draw alongside partner Aldila Sutjiadi.

The Indonesian pairing is scheduled to face home representatives Harriet Dart / Maia Lumsden in the first round.
