Morocco secured a crucial victory in the 2026 World Cup Group C Standings race after beating Scotland 1-0 at Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, early Saturday WIB. Ismael Saibari's goal was the deciding factor in the tight battle between both sides.

This result temporarily lifts The Atlas Lions to the top of the Group C Standings with four points from two matches played. Scotland meanwhile drops to second place on three points, and faces mounting pressure ahead of their final group stage fixture.

Morocco played with high intensity right from the opening whistle. Ismael Saibari scored an early goal just two minutes into the match.

Finding a gap in Scotland's defensive line, Saibari beat the offside trap before calmly placing a shot past the keeper from a tight angle.

Trailing by one goal, Scotland increased their attacking pressure but struggled to penetrate Morocco's disciplined defence. Scott McTominay repeatedly attempted to drive his side forward, but was consistently stopped before reaching dangerous attacking areas.

As they committed more players forward, Scotland almost conceded again in the 35th minute. Bilal El Khannouss failed to convert the clear chance however, leaving the 1-0 scoreline unchanged at half time.

Five minutes after the second half restart, Saibari nearly scored his second goal of the match, only for his strike to hit the crossbar above Goalkeeper Angus Gunn.

Scotland adjusted their tactics to speed up attacking build up play, but this approach still failed to break through the Atlas Lions defence led by Achraf Hakimi.

This win is valuable momentum for Morocco as they target qualification for the last 32. With four points secured and improving on-pitch form, the Atlas Lions hold an ideal position to advance to the knockout stage.

For Scotland meanwhile, they must recover immediately if they wish to keep their 2026 World Cup campaign alive.
