Indonesia's hopes of progressing far in the Women's Doubles category at Libema Open 2026 have ended earlier than expected. The second seeded pair, Aldila Sutjiadi/Janice Tjen, were eliminated in the first round of this WTA 250 grass court tournament after suffering a dramatic defeat against the Dutch-British pairing Isabelle Haverlag / Maia Lumsden.

Competing in 's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands, Aldila and Janice were forced to concede after a three-set battle that finished 1-6, 6-4, 8-10. This loss came after the Indonesian pair failed to hold their momentum during the critical super tie-break phase.

Right from the start of the match, Haverlag and Lumsden played with aggressive intensity. This unseeded pair dominated the first set through a combination of powerful serves and fast-paced play. They recorded two aces and won 90.9% of all points on their first serves.

While Aldila and Janice successfully landed 78.3% of their first serves, constant pressure from the opponents made it difficult for the Indonesian pair to build their game rhythm. After building a 3-1 lead, Haverlag / Lumsden went on to win three consecutive games to close out the first set with a convincing 6-1 scoreline.

Entering the second set, Aldila and Janice responded positively. The match became far more balanced, with both pairs successfully holding their respective service games. The momentum shifted when the Indonesian pair took the seventh game to pull ahead 4-3.

Aldila and Janice's confidence grew as they managed to disrupt their opponents' game flow. According to official WTA statistics, they won 77.3% of points on their first serves and executed far more effective returns. This advantage allowed the Indonesian pair to take the second set 6-4, forcing the match into a deciding super tie-break.

The final deciding phase was tightly contested. Both pairs traded points back and forth until the score was level at 5-5. At one point, Aldila and Janice gained the upper hand after claiming three crucial consecutive points.

However, Haverlag and Lumsden demonstrated strong mental resilience. The home pairing fought back at the critical moment, stringing together a run of points to draw level once more. They then closed out the match cleanly, securing a 10-8 super tie-break victory after one hour and 10 minutes of total play time.

This defeat marks a double exit for Janice Tjen. Prior to this doubles loss, the 24-year-old Tennis Player had already been knocked out of the Women's Singles draw in the first round, following a loss against Belgian player Greet Minnen.
