FIFA has completed one of the most critical operational stages ahead of the 2026 World Cup kick-off. The global Football Governing Body has officially announced the final spectator capacity for all stadiums that will be used across United States of America, Canada, and Mexico.
This confirmation marks a major milestone in the countdown to the opening match of the world's largest Football tournament, which will feature 48 participating nations for the first time in its history.
"With only one day remaining before the first whistle blows at the 2026 World Cup, FIFA has confirmed the final capacity for all 16 host stadiums that will stage the matches," quoted from the official FIFA website on Thursday.

This announcement underlines the massive scale of the 2026 World Cup organisation. With the new expanded format bringing more teams and matches, the requirement for large-capacity stadiums became one of the core planning priorities for the tournament.
FIFA is confident that the overwhelming interest from football fans worldwide will see this tournament edition set new all-time records for match attendance.
According to FIFA, global enthusiasm for this tri-nation tournament is at unprecedented levels. This puts the long-standing 1994 USA World Cup attendance record under very real threat of being broken.
During the 1994 edition, the tournament recorded a total aggregate attendance of approximately 3.5 million spectators, a figure which still stands as the highest in World Cup history to this day.
However, with the expansion of participating teams from 32 to 48 sides alongside the increased total number of matches, this record is projected to be surpassed in 2026.
FIFA stated that the finalised stadium capacities are confirmation that the 2026 World Cup will be the largest edition ever staged in the history of the competition.
This tournament will not only host more national teams and matches, but it will also create the opportunity for far more supporters to experience the live match atmosphere inside the stadiums.
FIFA has reaffirmed that the 2026 World Cup will set a new global benchmark for fan engagement in international football.
The modern infrastructure available across the three host nations is expected to successfully accommodate the surge in interest from supporters travelling from every continent.
When summed together, the total combined capacity of all 16 2026 World Cup stadiums reaches approximately 1.03 million spectators when all venues are at full capacity for a single match round.
This figure demonstrates the enormous scale of this tournament's organisation. With dozens of matches scheduled throughout the competition, the total projected aggregate attendance is expected to far exceed the totals achieved by all previous World Cup editions.
