The Sanur area of Bali continues to solidify its position as one of Indonesia's leading Sport Tourism hubs. National to international scale sporting events are now being held regularly in this coastal district of Denpasar City, including the NCC Motorun 2026 which successfully drew hundreds of participants.

Denpasar City Government has reaffirmed its commitment to developing Sanur as a world-class Tourism Destination for sports. This was stated by Denpasar Deputy Mayor I Kadek Agus Arya Wibawa when he officially flagged off NCC Motorun 2026 participants at the Naga 8 Restaurant Central Parking area, Jalan Danau Tamblingan, Sanur on Sunday, 7 June 2026.

According to Arya Wibawa, hosting this running event aligns with Denpasar City's vision to establish Sanur as an international sport tourism magnet that can attract visitors while driving the local community economy.

"As an International Tourism destination, Sanur district in Denpasar is perfectly suited to host local, national and international scale events. Initiatives like this certainly bring added value to tourism industry development, as well as empowerment for Local MSMEs," he stated.

He noted that hosting various sporting events does not only provide space for the public to exercise and recreate, but also directly drives an increase in Tourist Visits to Bali, particularly Sanur.

Furthermore, large-scale sporting activities are proven to create a ripple economic effect for local business operators, spanning the culinary, hospitality, and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) sectors.

The Denpasar City Government has also committed to continuously support the hosting of sporting events that will reinforce Sanur's identity as a premier sport tourism destination.

"Through events like this, we hope to generate positive impacts for community livelihoods, while supporting the growth of Denpasar City's tourism sector," he added.

High participant enthusiasm was visible from early morning, as hundreds of runners filled the race venue. Notably, NCC Motorun 2026 also welcomed a number of international track athletes who joined the competition.

NCC Motorun 2026 Committee Chairman Agus Darmayuda explained that this event is an annual programme run by the No Club Club (NCC) Community, created to promote healthy lifestyles while showcasing the area's Tourism Potential.

This year, the event was held over two days, from 6 to 7 June 2026, with race categories designed for all age groups.

The first day featured the Children Sprint category for young participants. On the second day, the event continued with the headline 5 kilometre and 10 kilometre race categories.

Alongside the running competition, organisers also partnered with various sponsors, communities and local MSME operators to set up product and service booths for all participants and visitors.

"The NCC Community was founded in 2019, and for the 2026 NCC Motorun we have collaborated with multiple sponsors to support the successful delivery of this event," said Agus.

He expressed hope that NCC Motorun will continue to grow into one of Bali's flagship sporting events, that will assist with Tourism Promotion for Sanur, while opening up wider economic opportunities for local residents.

As more sporting events are hosted in the area, Sanur is no longer only known as a beach and Cultural Tourism destination. It is now rapidly emerging as a respected sport tourism hub that attracts attention from sporting communities across domestic regions and overseas.
