Rizky Ridho will captain the Indonesia National Team squad for two FIFA Match Day fixtures set to be hosted at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Jakarta. The Persija Jakarta defender will wear the captain's armband for the matches against Oman on Friday 5 June and Mozambique on Tuesday 9 June.
Ridho assumes the captaincy role in place of Jay Idzes, who will not join this month's squad as he continues recovery from an injury sustained during the final matchweek of the Italian Serie A season.
The appointment of Ridho as captain was not made by Indonesia National Team Head Coach John Herdman. The Canadian tactician confirmed the captain selection was decided fully by the playing squad themselves.

FIFA Matchday June: Without Jay Idzes, John Herdman Calls Up Mathew Baker
"The team chose him. The players voted for Rizky Ridho to be their captain," stated Herdman following Indonesia's training session at Gelora Bung Karno Madya Stadium, Jakarta on Monday.
Herdman reiterated he never interferes with the team leadership selection process. He explained the players hold full authority to decide which individual they trust most to lead them on the pitch.
"That's right, the players always elect their own captain. This is not a call for the coaching staff. My responsibilities are setting tactics, selecting the match squad, enforcing team discipline, and representing the side to the media," Herdman explained.
Leading the Garuda Squad is not an unfamiliar responsibility for Ridho. The 24-year-old centre back has previously captained Indonesia in two senior international matches prior to this call up.
His first captaincy appearance came against Vietnam during the second round of 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers at SUGBK on 21 March 2024.
On that occasion Indonesia secured a vital 1-0 victory, in the same match that also marked Jay Idzes' international debut for the national side.
Ridho wore the armband a second time for a friendly fixture against Chinese Taipei on 5 September last year. Leading the side at Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium Surabaya, he oversaw a convincing 6-0 victory for Indonesia.
Ridho also holds established captaincy experience at club level. For the past two consecutive seasons he has served as official captain for Persija Jakarta, and is recognised as a core leadership figure within the Macan Kemayoran dressing room.
Despite Ridho stepping up to lead the side, Jay Idzes' unavailability remains a significant loss for the Indonesia national squad.
This is the first time the 25-year-old defender has been omitted from the official 'Garuda Calling' squad list since he formally obtained Indonesian citizenship in December 2023.
Since making his debut against Vietnam in March 2024, Idzes had been called up for every international window, earning 18 senior caps for the Merah Putih.
Herdman added that Idzes' value extends far beyond his formal captain title. The coach noted the defender's off-pitch and behind-the-scenes contributions have been a critical driver for the Indonesia National Team's recent progress.
"There is no replacing Jay Idzes. It is that simple. The work he does away from the cameras for this squad is extraordinary. He is a genuine leader who is fully dedicated to this mission of qualifying Indonesia and taking this nation to the next level," stated the coach who previously ended Canada's 36 year World Cup absence.
Now full leadership responsibility for the Garuda squad passes to Rizky Ridho, who will be expected to guide Indonesia to positive results across these two FIFA Match Day fixtures.
