Persib Bandung has confirmed Julio Cesar will remain part of the Maung Bandung squad for the 2026/2027 season. The Brazilian defender has officially received a full one-year contract extension, after being assessed for consistent performances and recognised as one of the core pillars of the team's defensive line.
The decision to retain Julio Cesar forms part of Persib's strategy to build a more competitive squad to face the congested competition schedule for the coming season.
Adhitia Putra Herawan, Deputy CEO of PT Persib Bandung Bermartabat, explained this decision was reached following a full comprehensive evaluation process.

Additionally, head coach Igor Tolic also recommended Julio be retained due to his significant contributions within the defensive department.
"Julio Cesar demonstrated quality, professionalism and consistency throughout his entire first season with Persib," stated Adhitia Putra Herawan, who is commonly known as Adhit, via Persib's official channel.
According to Adhit, the 31-year-old defender's performance was one of the critical factors that enabled Persib to successfully retain their championship title last season.
"His contribution that helped the team defend the league title was one of our primary considerations. Based on this evaluation, the coaching staff recommended Julio remain part of the squad for this season," he explained.
He noted that Julio Cesar's experience will be extremely valuable, as the club will face a far more demanding campaign than previous seasons.
For the 2026/2027 season, Maung Bandung will compete across four separate tournaments: the BRI Super League, Indonesian Cup, Shopee Cup ASEAN Club Championship, and AFC Champions League II.
Adhit confirmed Persib requires experienced players capable of maintaining on-pitch stability through the dense upcoming match schedule.
"We understand this season will demand far greater team readiness. For this reason, we require quality squad depth across every position," Adhit stated.
He added that Julio Cesar is projected to remain a core component of the team's plans for the full duration of the season.
"Julio Cesar is one of the players selected to support these requirements, and will be an important part of the team's strategy across all competitions," he continued.
Julio Cesar joined Persib last season, and immediately delivered positive impact within the backline.
The defender, born in Anápolis, Brazil on 21 March 1995, registered 25 domestic competition appearances alongside 7 matches in the 2025/2026 AFC Champions League Two.
