Crystal Palace made history by winning the Conference League title for the 2025/26 season. In the final fixture, the English representative defeated Rayo Vallecano with a 1-0 scoreline in Leipzig, early morning WIB on Thursday 28 May.
The match remained tightly contested right from the opening minute. Rayo Vallecano came out playing aggressively, with one of the best chances for the Spanish side arriving in the 39th minute. Unai Lopez unleashed a low driven shot from just outside the penalty box, but the attempt failed to find the target.
Crystal Palace responded with threatening attacks shortly before half time. Adam Wharton sent an accurate cross that was met with a header by Tyrick Mitchell inside the penalty area, though this opportunity also did not change the scoreboard.

Even as both sides played open attacking Football and created clear chances, the goalless deadlock held until the half time break.
At the start of the second half, Crystal Palace immediately pushed forward and broke the deadlock in the 50th minute. The goal came after Adam Wharton fired a powerful long-range shot from outside the penalty box that was parried by Augusto Batalla. Jean-Philippe Mateta reacted fastest to the loose rebound to slot home, Putting Palace ahead 1-0.
This goal lifted Palace's confidence as they took full control of the game. The Eagles came close to doubling their lead just five minutes later via a Yeremy Pino Free kick. Batalla failed to catch the ball cleanly, but the goal frame combined with last-ditch defending from Rayo's back line kept the score unchanged.
Trailing on the scoreboard, Rayo Vallecano raised their attacking intensity as they hunted for an equaliser. Sergio Camello created a chance from a loose ball, but his shot flew well over the crossbar.
Rayo continued pushing forward: next, Florian Lejeune's header from a free kick also drifted off target. Pedro Diaz and Alemao also threatened with long range attempts, but none managed to find the back of the net.
By the full time whistle, Rayo Vallecano had failed to score a reply. Crystal Palace held on to their 1-0 advantage, officially securing their position as Champions of the 2025/26 Conference League.
