Spending a weekend in Jakarta is not always about shopping malls or food. Various art, cultural, and entertainment events await both local residents and tourists who wish to experience the capital city in a different way.

Options to fill your holiday time with family or friends include a Naruto Shippuden themed installation at Kota Tua, an exhibition of Nusantara traditional textiles, a collaborative showcase between Indonesian batik and Hungarian embroidery, as well as a wayang beber performance.

Below are recommended weekend events in Jakarta that deserve a spot on your itinerary:

1. Explore Konoha Village at the Hidden Leaf Festival

For anime fans, Jakarta Old Town area offers a unique experience via the Hidden Leaf Festival, held 10–16 July 2026 from 10.00 to 20.00 WIB.

Visitors can immerse in the atmosphere of Konoha Village through various iconic installations including the giant Kyuubi, Hokage Rock, Torii Gate, and Konoha Hut.

This festival is part of the Ninjas Assemble event series scheduled for 11–12 July 2026.

Besides the Naruto themed installations, attendees can also enjoy the PUBG Mobile Influencer Championship (PMIG) tournament, a meet and greet session with Windah Basudara, cosplay flashmob, interactive booths, and live performances by local musicians.

2. Trace the Heritage of Nusantara Textiles

Culture enthusiasts may visit the Textile Museum which hosts the exhibition "Preserving Heritage for the Future" running until 30 August 2026.

This exhibition displays 50 curated works from the museum's first 1976 endowment collection, plus 12 selected ulos cloths donated by Torang Sitorus. Through these collections, visitors are guided to understand the long journey of Nusantara textile preservation efforts.

3. Indonesian Batik Meets Hungarian Embroidery

Still within the textile art theme, the Fine Arts and Ceramics Museum holds the Threads of Wax exhibition until 21 July 2026.

Carrying the theme "Intercultural Dialogue Between Indonesian Batik and Hungarian Folk Embroidery", this exhibition demonstrates that despite originating from different cultures, Indonesian batik and Hungarian traditional embroidery share similarities in motifs, symbolism, and the meticulous care put into their creation process.

4. Walking Through 100 Years Legacy of Ali Sadikin

At Oesman Effendy Gallery, Taman Ismail Marzuki, visitors can attend the 100 Years of Ali Sadikin Archive Exhibition with the theme "After the Victory Hymn: Art Patronage and Independence".

This exhibition presents various archives documenting Ali Sadikin's leadership as Governor of Jakarta for the 1966–1977 term, including his role in building the capital city's arts and cultural ecosystem.

5. Metropolitan Wayang Beber Highlights Environmental Issues

For traditional art lovers, the Wayang Museum will hold the Metropolitan Wayang Beber Performance on Sunday, from 10.00 to 14.00 WIB.

Through the story titled My Water Spring Inside Packaging, audiences are invited to follow the narrative of tension between nature conservation and development ambition.

For those who cannot attend on site, the performance will also be streamed via the official Wayang Museum YouTube channel.
