Two major English Premier League clubs, Chelsea and Liverpool, have endured a season full of ups and downs. Chelsea Interim Manager Callum McFarlane and Liverpool Manager Arne Slot have broken their silence regarding the reasons their squads failed to achieve maximum results throughout this season.
On Chelsea's end, Callum McFarlane concluded that The Blues' core issue was persistent inconsistent performance that repeated from the start right through to the end of the season. This situation left Chelsea unable to qualify for European Competition, after finishing only 10th in the league Standings with 52 total points.
"We should have finished far higher in the table. With the player quality we possess, we belonged in the Champions League. We were far too inconsistent this season, and in the end that is what cost us," stated McFarlane, as quoted from Chelsea's official website.

Chelsea's final blow arrived on the closing matchday of the season, when they fell to a 1-2 defeat against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. This result also extended The Blues' poor run of form in the Premier League.
Even so, McFarlane still offered appreciation to his squad, specifically acknowledging their efforts through the difficult circumstances during his tenure as interim manager.
"There is obvious deep disappointment across the dressing room," he added.
Arne Slot Names Injury Crisis As Cause Of Liverpool's Underperformance
Meanwhile on Liverpool's side, Arne Slot assessed that his side's failure to sustain peak performance this season was driven by a widespread injury crisis that plagued The Reds squad.
Liverpool concluded the season in 5th place with 60 points, after only managing a 1-1 draw against Brentford at Anfield; a result that closed out their entire winless run through the month of May.
"If you asked for one single word to describe this season, I would say 'injuries'," Slot told Liverpool's official platform.
Across the full campaign, Liverpool missed a large number of key players due to injury, including Conor Bradley, Wataru Endo, Giovani Leoni, Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak. This situation meant the squad did not have enough depth to maintain stable performance across all competitions.
Despite this, Slot also delivered appreciation to his players, who he confirmed had fought hard through difficult conditions even without lifting any silverware at the end of the season.
"I am immensely proud of every player for everything they gave this season. This was an extremely, extremely difficult campaign for all of us," Slot remarked.
Liverpool still successfully secured their Champions League qualification on the final matchday, even though their season was marked by a stretch of negative results including defeats against Manchester United and Aston Villa.
