Following its success hosting MotoGP Indonesia 2025, Mandalika Circuit in West Nusa Tenggara is swiftly preparing for another major event. This time, Indonesia's internationally renowned track will host the national car racing championship (ITCR) as part of the Mandalika Festival of Speed (MFoS) from 24–26 October 2025.
Transitioning from world-class two-wheel racing to national four-wheel competition is no simple task. This precisely highlights Mandalika's appeal as it demonstrates its capability as a globally standardized multifunctional circuit.
“Shifting from two-wheel to four-wheel setup is the technical team's primary focus to ensure the track meets FIA Grade 3 homologation standards again,” stated Muhammad Awallutfi Andhika Putra, Manager of Race Electronics, Track and Motorsport at Mandalika Circuit, in Central Lombok on Saturday.

After MotoGP and several two-wheel track day events, the MGPA (Mandalika Grand Prix Association) team is preparing to reconfigure the circuit for four-wheel use. This process involves reinstalling standard FIA safety equipment like flexible cones, domes, FIA brake markers, and car starting grids.
Why must this equipment be reinstalled? Because during MotoGP, all four-wheel elements are removed for motorcycle racer safety.
“When hosting MotoGP, we remove all four-wheel elements like domes and flexible cones to avoid endangering motorcycle racers,” he explained.
Precision Reconfiguration
Once all two-wheel events conclude, the team immediately begins FIA reconfiguration.
“After completing all two-wheel events, the team reconfigures to four-wheel setup with FIA safety standards,” he stated.
Several track points, particularly corner apex areas, are refitted with domes as boundaries to prevent excessive corner-cutting by cars.
Flexible cones and brake markers are also installed to help drivers identify track limits more accurately.
“The MGPA team rapidly executes the track setup conversion at Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit from two-wheel to four-wheel racing,” Awallutfi said.
“Immediately after the final two-wheel event, the team installs domes, flexible cones, and brake markers. Weather permitting, we promptly repaint the car grid too.”
He emphasized the remarkable efficiency of this process.
“It takes just hours, so the circuit is ready for four-wheel use by the next morning,” he confirmed.
By swiftly adapting from FIM (MotoGP) to FIA (car racing) standards, Mandalika positions itself to become Southeast Asia's premier motorsport hub.(Antara)
