The event, which took place on Sunday, December 28, 2025, was attended by approximately 1,200 participants from various regions. "Participants reached 1,200 people. We haven't calculated the total donations yet, but even if it's small, we hope it can help residents affected by natural disasters in Sumatra," said Chairman of Mandalika Last Sunday Run 2025, Rully Habibie, in Central Lombok, Sunday, December 28, 2025.
The Mandalika Last Sunday Run was designed as an inclusive and friendly Sporting event for all groups. Participants could choose between two race categories: 4.3 kilometers and 10 kilometers, allowing both beginner runners and experienced Running enthusiasts to enjoy the track at Indonesia's premier circuit.
The uniqueness of the Mandalika Last Sunday Run lies in its concept combining sport with a festival atmosphere. DJ performances and rows of Coffee stalls and culinary offerings from Local MSMEs made the event feel more fluid and festive. Local Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises also gained direct involvement, boosting the local economy.
Rully emphasized that organizing the Mandalika Last Sunday Run is part of the Mandalika Grand Prix Association's strategy to optimize the use of the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit year-round.
While globally known as a world-class racing venue, the circuit is now being introduced as a multifunctional space for various Sports and entertainment activities.
Through this event, participants gained a rare experience: running on an international-standard race track with Lombok's natural panorama as the backdrop. This sensation became a unique attraction, especially for Indonesia's growing running community.
"This is a relaxed run, so participants can also take selfies with friends or family," he said.
Furthermore, the Mandalika Last Sunday Run is also projected as an entry point for sports development and regional Tourism Promotion. The activity is seen as capable of introducing West Nusa Tenggara's potential to a wider audience while fostering public interest in Running.
According to Rully, this event is still a preliminary step. Moving forward, the Mandalika Last Sunday Run concept will continue to be developed to have a greater impact, both for the sports sector and NTB Tourism.
Therefore, the Mandalika Last Sunday Run is confirmed to return next year with an updated concept. The organizers hope this event can become an anticipated annual agenda and contribute to increasing tourist numbers.
"Next year, the Mandalika Last Sunday Run will be held again on December 27, 2026," he said.
By combining sports, entertainment, social concern, and destination promotion, the Mandalika Last Sunday Run affirms that a running event is not merely about speed, but also about the experience and the value of togetherness.
