Persib Bandung has once again demonstrated its dominance in the 2025/2026 Super League. With a strong opportunity to secure their third consecutive championship title, the side nicknamed Maung Bandung also leads the list of nominees for this season's individual awards.

Yet behind this success, one detail has raised public questions. Teja Paku Alam is absent from the Best Goalkeeper nomination list, despite delivering consistent performances for Persib throughout the entire campaign.

Competition operator I.League has officially released the full list of individual award nominees for the 2025/2026 Super League. Persib is one of the clubs with the highest number of representatives across all categories, ranging from Best Player right through to Best Coach.

Federico Barba and Beckham Putra are both listed as candidates for Best Player, while Persib head coach Bojan Hodak also received a repeat nomination for the Best Coach award.

Even so, Teja's exclusion from the top goalkeeper shortlist has drawn particular attention. The Persib keeper recorded an impressive 18 clean sheets over the season - the highest number across the entire Super League this year.

Federico Barba: Persib's Solid Defensive Foundation

Federico Barba has emerged as one of the core figures behind Persib's rock-solid defence this season. The Italian centre-back performed consistently while also playing a major role in building up the team's play from the back line.

Beyond his defensive reliability, Barba also contributed positively to attacking play, finishing the season with 5 goals to his name.

Additionally, he registered 29 successful tackles, 100 interceptions and 60 clearances, earning his place among the frontrunners for this season's Best Player award.

Barba will compete for the award against Mariano Peralta, Juan Villa from Borneo FC, and Allano Brendon of Persija Jakarta.

Beckham Putra Showing Mature, Polished Form

Alongside Barba, Beckham Putra also earned a Best Player Nomination following his consistent displays for Persib all season long.

This young Maung Bandung midfielder has developed into the team's creative engine, using his vision and high work rate to dictate play from the middle of the pitch.

Over the course of the season, Beckham recorded 26 chances created, 138 progressive passes, 3 assists and 3 goals for Persib.

Bojan Hodak Nominated Once Again For Best Coach

Persib's consistent position at the top of the league table right up until the final matchweek also earned Bojan Hodak his latest Best Coach nomination.

The Croatian head coach had previously won this exact award for the past two consecutive seasons.

Hodak is recognised for successfully maintaining Persib's high performance levels, while keeping the club firmly in the championship race throughout the entire competition.

He will contest the award against Fabio Lefundes of Borneo FC Samarinda, and Paul Munster from Bhayangkara Presisi Lampung FC.

Teja Paku Alam's Exclusion Sparks Public Debate

Amidst Persib's dominant presence across the nomination lists, Teja Paku Alam's omission has sparked widespread debate among domestic football fans.

The Persib goalkeeper was one of the most consistent players in the entire league this season, and repeatedly produced match-saving performances for his side in crucial fixtures.

Despite holding the league's highest clean sheet record, I.League instead shortlisted Nadeo Argawinata from Borneo FC, Cahya Supriadi of PSIM Yogyakarta, and Igor Rodrigues from Persita Tangerang for the Best Goalkeeper award.

Meanwhile, the Best Young Player category features Dony Tri Pamungkas from Persija, Rivaldo Pakpahan of Borneo FC, and PSIM Yogyakarta's Cahya Supriadi.

For the Best Goal award, three spectacular strikes are nominated: Hokky Caraka's goal against Persik Kediri on Matchweek 15, Rendy Sanjaya's effort against Persik Kediri on Matchweek 27, and M. Iqbal's strike for PSIM against Madura United FC on Matchweek 33.

I.League Chief Executive Officer Ferry Paulus explained that the award assessment process is based on match statistics, evaluations from the Technical Study Group (TSG), individual contribution to the team, as well as sportsmanship and long-term performance consistency.

"This season's competition remained highly competitive right until the final matchweek. The battle was not only for the championship title, but also between players delivering consistent, impactful individual performances for their respective clubs. These nominations are our form of appreciation for their hard work, quality and contribution throughout the season," stated Ferry Paulus, quoted from the official I.League website on Wednesday, 20 May 2026.

He confirmed that the awards will not be decided solely based on raw statistical figures.

"We want these awards to truly represent the very best quality of this competition. For that reason, assessment is carried out holistically: we look not only at statistics, but also at the actual impact each player and coach has on their team's overall performance," he added.
