Tourism in These Two Asian Countries Has Skyrocketed, Entered the World's Top Rank According to UN Tourism

Japan and Vietnam captured the attention of the global tourism sector throughout 2025. The latest report from the United Nations World Tourism Organization placed both Asian countries on the global list of nations with the highest tourism growth rates,

Vietnam ranked 6th with a 30 percent increase, while Japan took 7th place after recording 23 percent growth.

This UN Tourism report shows that global travellers are starting to turn towards non-traditional destinations outside the United States and popular European countries. Asia has re-emerged as a strong magnet for international visitors, supported by its combined offering of culture, cuisine, natural scenery, and Travel accessibility.

Vietnam draws global tourist attention through its blend of modern cities, Cultural Heritage, and exotic tropical natural panoramas. Destinations including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Long Bay, and Da Nang are top favourites for International Travellers.

Meanwhile, Japan maintains its appeal as one of the most complete Tourism Destinations in Asia. The Land of the Rising Sun offers a seamless combination of modern technology, traditional culture, cherry blossom seasons, and Culinary Tourism experiences.

The inclusion of Japan and Vietnam on this highest growth ranking confirms that the Asian region is becoming increasingly competitive within the global tourism industry.

Overall, the UN Tourism report recorded over 300 million international tourist arrivals during the first three months of 2025. This figure marks an increase of around 14 million travellers compared to the same period in the previous year.

While Brazil received the main spotlight with 48 percent growth, multiple Asian and African countries also demonstrated outstanding performance in the global tourism industry recovery.

Embratur President Marcelo Freixo stated that this rapid tourism growth is clear proof that international promotion and destination development can successfully boost a country's appeal to global travellers.

“Brazil's position among the leading nations on this list proves our country's strength as a highly sought-after tourism destination worldwide. We have grown far above the global average, and this is the result of our continuous international promotion efforts,” stated Marcelo Freixo.

He added that the tourism sector does not only increase the volume of Tourist Visits, but also delivers direct economic impact for local communities.

“We are currently trending, breaking one record after another, and driving social development through tourism that creates jobs and income across our country. This benefits both those who visit, and the people who live here,” he added.
