Persib initially fell behind through a goal by Alaaeddine Ajarie. However, the team coached by Bojan Hodak managed to bounce back and turn the game around, scoring twice through Adam Alis.
However, Persib's euphoria was short-lived. A day later, Borneo FC delivered a strong response with a dramatic 3-2 win over Bali United at Captain I Wayan Dipta Stadium, Gianyar, Bali, on Monday, May 11.
The Pesut Etam team displayed championship mentality by relentlessly pressing Persib. Two goals from Mariano Peralta and one from Juan Villa secured three crucial points for Borneo FC.
Meanwhile, Bali United put up a fierce fight with goals from Teppei Yachida and an own goal (OG) from a Borneo player, keeping the match tight until the final minutes.
With this win, Borneo FC once again matched Persib Bandung's points tally, with 75 points from 32 matches. However, Borneo still trails in the head-to-head record, leaving them in second place in the provisional standings.
Battle at the Bottom Equally Fierce
Not only the battle for the title, but the fight to avoid relegation is also intensifying as the Super League season approaches its end.
Madura United and Persis Solo are both now fighting to avoid the drop.
Persis Solo finds itself in the toughest situation. If Laskar Sambernyawa fails to win in matchweek 33 of the Super League, they will be relegated from the top tier of Indonesian Football.
With two weeks remaining, the competition at both the top and bottom of the Super League table is certain to be heated until the final match of the season.
