Persija coach, Mauricio Souza, remains confident the match atmosphere will favor the Macan Kemayoran even though the match against Persib is held in Samarinda. Meanwhile, Persija defender Paulo Ricardo ensures his team remains focused on chasing victory.
The heated clash between Persija Jakarta and Persib Bandung will take place this Weekend. The match, initially hoped to be held in Jakarta, has been moved to Segiri Stadium, Samarinda, on Sunday, May 10, 2026 at 3:30 PM WIB.
Segiri Stadium was chosen as the alternative venue after police authorities did not recommend holding the match in Jakarta in the near future. However, this location change hasn't dampened Mauricio's optimism ahead of this prestigious duel.

"I'm sure we will get support there. There are Persija supporters all over Indonesia. Wherever we go, there are always Persija supporters. I believe there will be Jakmania there supporting us," Mauricio said as quoted from Persija's official website.
The Brazilian coach believes the presence of Jakmania always provides extra energy for his team. In a Big Match like Persija vs Persib, support from the stands can significantly influence the players' mentality and spirit on the field.
"I always say, their support is fundamental for us. The only thing we can do is give our maximum effort on the field to repay all the support we have received throughout this competition," he said.
The atmosphere of the classic Persija vs Persib rivalry always brings its own pressure. However, Mauricio hopes his team can use the supporters' backing as fuel to perform at their best to maintain their chances in the top tier of the competition.
Meanwhile, Persija defender Paulo Ricardo did not hide his disappointment at failing to play in Jakarta. According to him, the capital city isn't just a match venue, but home, which has always provided comfort and extra strength for Persija.
"But now, no matter where we play, we will play to win. That's what we do and I believe that's what we must do," said the Brazilian defender.
The 31-year-old player ensured Persija's focus remains unchanged. The Macan Kemayoran are still hunting for victory over their arch-rival, even though they have to play far from their main supporter base.
Paulo also stressed that the high tension of the Persija vs Persib match shouldn't make the team lose their playing identity. He wants Persija to keep playing with the character they've built throughout the season.
"We must keep playing our own way. No matter if this is a different kind of match, one that involves many things, watched by the whole nation, we still have to give our best," he concluded.
