Aston Villa secured a place in the 2026 Europa League final after demolishing fellow English club Nottingham Forest 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final at Villa Park, London, early Friday morning WIB. Unai Emery's side now prepares to face Freiburg in the final to be held in Istanbul on May 21.

Villa delivered an outstanding performance in front of their home fans and convincingly overturned the situation after losing 0-1 in the first leg. This big win propelled them to the final with a 4-1 aggregate, also marking their first Europa League final in the club's History.

Captain John McGinn stole the spotlight with two quick goals in the second half, while Ollie Watkins and Emiliano Buendia also contributed one goal each on a night of Villa dominance.

From the opening whistle, Aston Villa immediately pressured Nottingham Forest, giving them no breathing room. The intensity of attack after attack finally paid off in the 36th minute.

Emiliano Buendia showcased his individual quality before delivering a precise pass that Ollie Watkins converted into the opening goal for the hosts.

Villa's momentum continued after the break. In the 58th minute, Pau Torres was brought down by Nikola Milenkovic inside the penalty box, and the referee pointed to the spot.

Buendia stepped up as the executioner and successfully beat the Forest Goalkeeper to double the lead to 2-0.

Villa Park erupted further when John McGinn scored two consecutive goals in the 77th and 80th minutes. Both goals resulted from almost identical attacking patterns and sealed Aston Villa's emphatic win over Forest.

Villa's success in reaching the final reinforces Unai Emery's reputation as a specialist in European Competitions. Now, Villa is just one step away from lifting their first Europa League trophy.

Freiburg Overpowers Braga

In the upcoming final, Aston Villa will face Freiburg, who previously staged a dramatic comeback against Braga.

The German club won 3-1 in the second leg of the semi-final at Europa Park Stadium to overturn a 1-3 first-leg deficit. Freiburg advanced with a 4-3 aggregate, recording their first European final in Club History.

Lukas Kuebler emerged as Freiburg's hero with two crucial goals, while Johan Manzambi scored the other.

The match changed dramatically from the seventh minute after Braga player Mario Dorgeles received a red card for bringing down Jan-Niklas Beste, who had escaped the offside trap.

Having a numerical advantage allowed Freiburg to dominate the match. They took the lead in the 19th minute through a fortunate Lukas Kuebler goal after a Braga player's clearance deflected off him into the net.

Four minutes before halftime, Johan Manzambi doubled the lead with a curling shot from outside the penalty box.

Despite playing with 10 men, Braga put up a fierce fight. Victor Gomez almost scored after rounding goalkeeper Noah Atubolu, but his shot hit the post.

In the second half, Freiburg kept pressing and finally scored their third goal in the 72nd minute. Starting from a Vincenzo Grifo Free kick, Lukas Kuebler headed the ball into the far corner to put Freiburg 3-0 up.

Braga made the match tense again after Pau Victor reduced the deficit to 3-1 in the 79th minute. The visitors even almost scored another goal late in the game, but Noah Atubolu made a crucial save to deny Gabri Martinez's chance.

Now, the final stage in Istanbul brings together two teams both chasing new history. Aston Villa arrives with Unai Emery's experience and Champion mentality, while Freiburg brings the spirit of an underdog after their dramatic comeback against Braga.
