Jakarta is preparing to host the prestigious tennis and padel tournament titled "The Prime", set to take place on October 25-26 at Anwa Racquet Club, West Jakarta. This event is not just a sports competition, but also a community platform for networking and fostering a spirit of sportsmanship on the court.

This year's tournament has something special: a rotating trophy that will become a symbol of pride for the community that wins the championship title.

"Through this rotating trophy, we want to create a new tradition where every champion community will have its name recorded on the trophy, making it a shared pride and motivation for the following years," said Chairperson of the Organizing Committee Annisa Dyah Wijayanti at a press conference in Jakarta on Thursday, October 16, 2025.

More Categories, More Action

The Prime 2025 opens several competition categories divided into two disciplines, tennis and padel. For tennis, there are categories for women's beginner team, women's beginner singles, women's intermediate singles, women's intermediate doubles, and men's Open singles (which active national tennis players are not allowed to enter).

Meanwhile, in the padel discipline, there are women's bronze category and a celebrity category which will be contested by 16 pairs of players, adding to the excitement of the tournament expected to become an annual event.

One interesting aspect of this year's event is the large number of competitions specifically for women.

"This is beginner level, and for beginners, we look at the communities and based on discussions with PELTI and the Tournament Director, among these beginners there are many female communities," said Annisa.

"We also considered durability. When women play singles, they usually tire quickly, but for men, especially former athletes, coaches, or hitting partners, their durability is much longer," she continued.

Strict Selection for Healthy Competition

Behind the excitement of the tournament lies a strict player selection process. Septi Mende, as Tournament Director and a certified ITF Level 3 coach, ensures all participants compete according to their skill level.

"We pay close attention to player profiles and achievements before the competition. The goal is to ensure matches are competitive and no player drops down a level just to become champion," stated Septi.

This step demonstrates the committee's seriousness in upholding the spirit of fair play, ensuring this event is not just entertainment, but also a learning space for the tennis and padel communities in Indonesia.

Full Support from PELTI

The Prime 2025 receives direct support from the Indonesian Tennis Association (PELTI). According to Gito Suryono, Chairperson of PELTI Community Development, this event can be a catalyst for building a more solid tennis ecosystem in Indonesia.

"Competitions like this are highly anticipated because they are not just about playing together, but also become a platform to express training results. If sustainable, this activity could develop to national or provincial levels," he said.

More Than Just a Tournament

Not only about competition, The Prime also features supporting events such as a celebrity fun match and a 'Tennis for Adults' coaching clinic, giving the general public a chance to learn directly from experienced coaches.

With an inclusive, fun, and energetic community concept, The Prime is not just about winning or losing, but about building an active and sporting lifestyle amidst the busyness of the city.
