Mohamed Salah is confirmed to be absent when Liverpool visit Old Trafford, the home of Manchester United in matchweek 35 of the Premier League on Sunday, May 3, 2026. Losing Salah for this crucial match is a major blow for The Reds.
Salah suffered a mild muscle injury when he was substituted during last week's match against Crystal Palace at Anfield.
"We expect him to return in the later stages of the season, but not for Sunday," said Arne Slot as quoted from the official Liverpool website.

Despite Salah's absence in this important match, Slot remains optimistic that The Reds' striker could return before the season ends.
Liverpool still have three matches remaining after facing Man United. They will still play against Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Brentford, a phase that could serve as a farewell stage for the player from Egypt.
"We know Mo has always worked incredibly hard throughout the season when he's been fit, and even when injured, he pushes hard to come back as quickly as possible," he said.
"That’s what he’s doing very well right now. Normally he recovers quicker than other players after minor injuries, because this is indeed a minor Injury," he added.
The not-too-serious injury provides some relief for Slot. He hopes Salah will have the chance to close out the season with an elegant farewell.
“If there’s one player who deserves a proper farewell, it’s definitely Mo," said Slot.
Since joining from AS Roma in the 2017/2018 season, Salah has become an Anfield icon. He has amassed 257 goals and 122 assists from 440 appearances, helping Liverpool win nine prestigious trophies, including the UEFA Champions League and the Premier League title.
Without Salah, Liverpool face a tough test at Old Trafford. The match against Man United is not just about prestige, but could also determine their final position in this season's standings.
