Shin Tae-yong has once again taken on a key role in Indonesian Football, this time as a technical advisor for the Indonesian Football 7 National Team. This appointment was announced alongside the declaration of the F7 Indonesia Federation in Jakarta, marking a new step in developing 7-a-side football in the country.
Chairman of the F7 Indonesia Federation, Dudung Abdurachman, believes Shin's presence is key to bringing new standards to the team. He hopes the success of the coach from South Korea in handling the Indonesian National Team can be replicated at the F7 level.
"Tactical issues, intelligence issues, and so on are secondary, but the most important thing is mentality. With Shin Tae-yong's experience already proving successful at PSSI, I proposed, how about we recruit Shin Tae-yong for Football 7," he added.

While managing the Indonesian National Team, Shin successfully built a foundation of competitive mentality. He brought the Garuda Squad to compete at the Asian level, including progressing to the third round of 2026 World Cup Qualification and guiding the U-23 team to the semifinals of the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup, just one step away from a ticket to the Paris Olympics.

Now, a new challenge awaits on a different stage. The Indonesian F7 National Team is scheduled to compete in the Intercontinental Cup in Rome, Italy, from July 30 to August 2, 2026, an event organized by the International Football 7 Federation.
In preparation for the tournament, head coach Socrates Matulessy will directly lead the team on the field. He will be supported by a coaching staff, including assistant coaches, fitness coaches, and physiotherapists.
Shin's role as a technical advisor will focus more on system building, mentality, and long-term development direction. The F7 Indonesia Federation has even contracted him for a long duration, including projections towards the 2027 F7 World Cup.
