Banned From Coaching For 10 Years In South Korea, Shin Tae-yong Feels He Was Treated Unfairly.

Former Indonesia National Team head coach Shin Tae-yong has entered a new phase in his coaching career after the Korea Football Association (KFA) imposed a 10-year coaching ban in his home country. While the sanction only applies within South Korea, Shin believes he has been treated unfairly and is prepared to fight for justice.

The KFA's ruling has sparked public attention as it came alongside other severe penalties: a permanent ban from holding any role in South Korean football competitions, and permanent expulsion from all domestic clubs in the country.

Reacting to the decision, Shin voiced his objection to the entire legal process that concluded with this heavy sanction.

"I believe there are still many unfair elements surrounding this case, and I intend to explain what really happened," Shin stated, as cited by South Korean media outlet Ichannela.

KFA delivered the penalty after the Fair Play Committee convened a meeting earlier this month. The federation concluded Shin had committed violations during his tenure leading Ulsan HD.

One core allegation used to justify the sanction is the accusation of physical abuse against Ulsan HD player Jeong Seung Hyun. Shin is alleged to have slapped the player while serving as the club's head coach.

Additional reports also surfaced that the 56-year-old coach played golf during active official match schedules. This controversy had already resulted in his dismissal from Ulsan Hyundai prior to KFA issuing the formal disciplinary penalty.

The ban is only enforceable within South Korean territory. This means Shin remains fully eligible to coach club sides or national teams outside of his home country.

Shin currently manages Indonesian Super League club Persija Jakarta, so his coaching activities in Indonesia will not be impacted at all by KFA's ruling.

It has been reported that Shin is now weighing up legal options to challenge the federation's decision.

South Korean media outlet Nate confirmed that Shin is considering filing a formal appeal against his penalty.

"He is still evaluating whether to proceed with an appeal," noted Nate.

Should an appeal be officially submitted, the proceedings are expected to become a major point of public attention across South Korean football circles.

This is unsurprising given Shin Tae-yong's status as one of the most experienced coaches to have ever managed the South Korean national team, with an extensive track record working at international level.
