Manchester City faces a serious problem ahead of their match against Burnley in the English Premier League continuation. Their key midfielder, Rodri, is estimated to be unavailable due to an injury sustained during the clash against Arsenal.

Besides Rodri, center-back Ruben Dias is also still recovering from injury. This situation presents an additional challenge for The Citizens who are chasing Arsenal at the top of the English Premier League Standings.

“I think for tomorrow (23/4) Rodri won't be ready. We'll see for the FA Cup Semifinal against Southampton this weekend. Dias also isn't ready,” said Pep Guardiola as quoted from the official website.

Rodri suffered the injury when Manchester City secured a 2-1 victory over Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium on April 19. The Spanish National Team player is suspected to have a groin issue.

Rodri's absence could be a major setback for Manchester City. The midfielder plays a crucial role in the team's performance resurgence this season, especially after returning from a long-term injury that previously sidelined him.

Currently, Arsenal still leads the English Premier League standings with 70 points from 33 matches. Manchester City trails in second place with 67 points and has one game in hand.

Although Arsenal has experienced a performance dip after suffering four consecutive losses in domestic competitions, Manchester City has started rediscovering their best form following the victory over Mikel Arteta's team in the Carabao Cup final.

Guardiola acknowledged the duel against Arsenal drained his players' energy both physically and mentally. However, the Spanish coach emphasized the team's focus is now on their six remaining matches this season.

“It was an extremely demanding match, both emotionally and physically. But we still have six games left. We know what will happen if we get results or not,” he said.

“Both teams know they can't afford to drop points. It will be difficult to bounce back if we slip, especially with our tight schedule. For the chasing team, it's mentally and physically tougher,” he added.

Meanwhile, Burnley enters this match under immense pressure. The team faces relegation threats and could potentially drop to a lower division if they fail to gain points against Manchester City.

Burnley's performance remains unstable after suffering a heavy 1-4 defeat to Nottingham Forest, despite taking an early lead in the first half.
