Real Madrid has lost one of the symbols of its European dominance. Los Blancos has been ousted from the top spot in the latest UEFA club rankings. Bayern Munich surged to the summit thanks to a dramatic 4-3 victory in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.
That Big Match not only secured Bayern's path to the semi-finals of the Champions League 2025/2026, but also had a direct impact on the power map of European Football. The German giant now stands above all its rivals in the UEFA coefficient system.
Bayern Munich has collected 280.500 points, surpassing Real Madrid's 271.500 points. Beneath these two giants, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, and Barcelona complete the top five clubs.

Bayern reached the top position not because of one sensational season. Over the last 10 seasons, Die Roten has almost always been a serious contender in the Champions League.
Although not always lifting the trophy, Bayern has recorded impressive results. In the last five editions of the Champions League, they have consistently reached at least the quarter-finals.
The UEFA 10-year ranking system is calculated based on coefficient points clubs accumulate throughout their European competition campaigns. Points are earned from participation, wins, and achievements in the knockout stages.
Bayern Munich CEO, Jan-Christian Dreesen, believes his club's new position reflects the strength built consistently.
"This ranking is not a historical coincidence, but rather further proof of this club's strength," said Dreesen.
He asserted that Bayern's success stems from a solid foundation amidst the significant changes in modern football.
"Bayern represents sustainable sporting performance and stability in extreme times when international football is dominated by investors," he continued.
This season, Bayern has the opportunity to widen the points gap from Real Madrid as they remain in the Champions League. Their immediate challenge is the two-legged semi-final duel against defending champions Paris Saint-Germain.
The two legs are scheduled for April 28th and May 6th, with a final ticket at stake. The winner of that match will face Atletico Madrid or Arsenal in the final.
The Champions League final this season will be held in Budapest on May 30th. Will Bayern be able to pair its status as UEFA's number one club with the continental champion's trophy?
