Mario Suryo Aji is expected to rise and compete again in the Moto2 Grand Prix of Spain 2026. After a disappointing Weekend in Austin, it's time for the young Indonesian rider to prove his potential at the Circuito de Jerez.

The Idemitsu Honda Team Asia isn't turning a blind eye to the poor result at the United States GP. The failure to score points serves as both a wake-up call and an evaluation opportunity ahead of the European rounds.

"Overall, this weekend didn't go as we wanted and we need to clearly understand where we can improve performance," said team manager Hiroshi Aoyama.

Mario showed competitive speed while battling in 15th position, a points-scoring zone, before an incident on the final lap ended his race prematurely.

"Unfortunately, Mario crashed towards the end of the race while fighting for points, so it's a disappointing result after a tough weekend," he said.

For Aoyama, the Austin result doesn't reflect Mario's true capabilities. Focus is now on technical and mental improvements so the rider in his 20s can perform more consistently in Jerez.

"We will stay focused, keep working, and try to come back stronger at the next race," he stated.

From the rider's side, reflection came with honest tones. Mario made no excuses for his failure, instead acknowledging his mistake at the crucial moment.

"Both before the red flag and after the restart, I felt the race was going quite well. But in the end, I made a mistake and that was entirely my fault," said Mario.

This awareness is a crucial foundation for the comeback. Jerez isn't just the next round; it's a proving ground for How a rider learns from failure.

"The most important thing now is a mental reset, to recover well, and return with a stronger mentality in Jerez," he said.

At the US race, Mario failed to finish after crashing while in 15th position. Victory went to Senna Agius, followed by Celestino Vietti and Izan Guevara who completed the podium.
