Bulgarian National Team Coach, Aleksandar Dimitrov, described the match against the Indonesian National Team in the FIFA Series 2026 final as a deeply meaningful moment.

The match will be held at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium on Monday, 30 March 2026, at 20:00 WIB.

"For me, this match against Indonesia is very special because, as you know, I previously played here and also served as assistant coach for the Indonesian National Team. I have many beautiful memories, so this match holds great significance for me," Dimitrov told media in Jakarta on Sunday, 29 March 2026.

Dimitrov is no stranger to Indonesian football. He spent three years of his playing career in the country, strengthening several major clubs including Persija Jakarta, Persegres Gresik United, and Persipura Jayapura.

After retiring, Dimitrov continued his career as a coach. He served as an assistant coach at Persipura and for the Indonesian national team during the eras of Ivan Kolev and Benny Dollo.

Duel of Two Productive Teams

The meeting between Indonesia and Bulgaria in the FIFA Series 2026 final follows impressive performances by both teams in their previous matches.

Indonesia achieved a decisive 4-0 victory over St Kitts and Nevis, while Bulgaria demonstrated superiority with a 10-2 thrashing of the Solomon Islands.

In FIFA Rankings, Bulgaria holds the advantage at 86th position globally, while Indonesia stands at 121st. Nevertheless, Dimitrov maintains high respect for the Garuda squad.

According to Dimitrov, football always brings surprises, so he refuses to underestimate Indonesia. He even noted significant progress since the arrival of their new coach.

"This is John Herdman's second match. I see many positive aspects in Indonesia's gameplay compared to their previous matches against Iraq and Saudi Arabia," Dimitrov said.

John Herdman's presence is seen as bringing new energy to Indonesia, particularly in game organization and transitions.

Given the emotional backdrop and quality of both teams, this final is predicted to be fiercely competitive and exciting to watch.
