Bogor Regency is preparing something different for educational tourism enthusiasts and nature lovers. Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto is initiating a concept for free public-access conservation-based educational tourism, an idea directly inspired by the success of Taman Safari Indonesia (TSI), a world-class conservation and educational tourism institution located in the same area.

This concept emerged when Rudy received a visit from the Taman Safari Indonesia Technical Team at the Bogor Regent's Pendopo last Tuesday. The meeting marked the initial step in exploring collaboration between the Bogor Regency Government and TSI to develop a new public-friendly education and conservation area.

"We're proud that Taman Safari Indonesia exists in Bogor Regency. It's not just a tourist destination but also Indonesia's best globally recognized wildlife conservation center," said Rudy.

From Conservation to Inspiration

According to Rudy, Taman Safari's presence exemplifies how tourism and conservation can coexist. This inspired the idea to create a similar area with one major difference: free public access.

"We want to provide a place people can enjoy without payment, with operational costs covered by the government. The concept remains educational and conservation-based," he explained.

Rudy mentioned one location being prepared for this project is the area around Pakansari Stadium, which will be developed as a new central growth point for Bogor Regency. The area will feature various public facilities, sports zones, and thematic parks focused on environmental education and wildlife conservation.

"We'll utilize the land around Pakansari Stadium for public benefit. By 2025, regional, central, and private entities will construct various facilities there," he added.

Education and Access for All

Beyond infrastructure, Rudy emphasized this free educational tourism idea centers on equitable access, creating spaces for anyone to learn, play, and enjoy nature without economic barriers.

"Besides entertainment, such places will instill awareness about preserving nature and wildlife among our children and youth," Rudy stated.

For him, learning about nature shouldn't be expensive. With inclusive, sustainable public facilities, everyone can participate in environmental conservation efforts.

Support from Taman Safari Indonesia

TSI representative Marco welcomed the Bogor government's initiative, believing this collaboration paves the way for new synergy between local government and conservation institutions.

"We fully support Bogor Regency's strategic steps. We're honored to be involved in this grand educational tourism and conservation development plan," Marco stated.

He clarified this meeting was only the initial vision-alignment phase before technical discussions commence later.

"Today we listened and understood first. Technical matters will be addressed in subsequent meetings," he added.

With Taman Safari Indonesia's support, Bogor appears ready to advance toward a more sustainable and inclusive tourism model—a destination where learning, recreation, and nature preservation coexist in one ticket-free experience. (Antara)
