Indonesian Badminton Team failed to bring home a title from the 2026 European Tour series, but their performance report is considered promising. The Red and White squad remained competitive, even reaching crucial stages in several major European tournaments.

The tour series included the German Open, All England Open, Swiss Open, and Orleans Masters, which became a proving ground for Indonesia's new generation.

These tournaments weren't just title-hunting events but part of a long-term development process.

Eng Hian, Head of Development and Achievement at PP PBSI, assessed that the athletes' progress remained on the right track despite suboptimal final results.

“While the results haven't met expectations, we see positive developments in performance and progress. The players' competitiveness is evident, especially against world top players,” stated Eng Hian in PP PBSI's official release on Tuesday.

One positive indicator came from Swiss Open 2026. Indonesia placed two finalists through Alwi Farhan and Putri Kusuma Wardani

However, both settled for runner-up after facing tough opponents from Asia.

Alwi lost to Yushi Tanaka 18-21, 12-21, while Putri fell to Supanida Katethong 11-21, 15-21.

At the highest level, the Super 1000 All England Open also yielded competitive results.

Men's doubles pair Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin reached the semifinals, confirming Indonesia's competitiveness in doubles.

Meanwhile, at Orleans Masters 2026, Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana were halted in the quarterfinals.

Women's Doubles pair Rachel Allessya Rose/Febi Setianingrum achieved a similar result.

Though podium finishes eluded them, consistent deep runs signal a narrowing quality gap with world elites. However, one key aspect remains a differentiator.

“Improving consistency in critical moments is essential. That's often what separates victory from defeat,” he emphasized.

For Eng Hian, experiencing pressure in major tournaments provides vital technical and mental development for athletes.

“These European Tour results will serve as a crucial foundation for our next steps, with gradual and measurable improvements to follow,” he concluded.
