The Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) targeted the Indonesian team to bring home one title from the All England Open 2026. However, that target failed to be achieved after the Red and White representatives were eliminated in all sectors. In response to this failure, PBSI is conducting a comprehensive evaluation of the team's performance.

The Head of Coaching and Achievement at PBSI, Eng Hian, affirmed that the federation will review the training program at the national training center. The goal is to ensure that the athletes are able to compete more consistently in elite-level tournaments.

“We will conduct this evaluation comprehensively with the coaching team and support team at the national training center to see what still needs to be improved and enhanced so that in the future the athletes can perform optimally and stably in major tournaments," said Eng Hian in an official statement on Monday.

Eng Hian said that PBSI will continue to strive to find increasingly effective coaching methods so that the athletes' potential can develop optimally.

In this year's edition in Birmingham, the furthest step by Indonesian representatives was achieved by Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin. This Indonesian men's doubles pair managed to reach the semifinals of the BWF World Tour Super 1000 category tournament.

However, in the other four sectors: men's singles, Women's Singles, Women's Doubles, and mixed doubles, Indonesian representatives were eliminated in the Quarter Finals

With that result, Indonesia returned home without a title from one of the most prestigious tournaments in the World Badminton calendar.

Eng Hian acknowledged the high expectations of the Indonesian public for Badminton, which has been a national pride for decades.

"We also understand that the hopes of the Indonesian people for badminton are very high, especially in tournaments like the All England. Therefore, we apologize for not being able to meet the set target," said Eng Hian.

After the disappointing result in Birmingham, the Indonesian team does not have much time to linger on evaluations.

The players will continue their European tour by competing in the Swiss Open, one of the tournaments in the BWF World Tour series.

This tournament is expected to be a momentum for the Indonesian Athletes to rise, improve their performance, and bring home better results.
