Adhitia Putra Herawan, Deputy CEO of PT Persib Bandung Bermartabat (PBB), explained that the decision to retain the three foreign players was made after a comprehensive evaluation conducted together with the coaching team.
"Persib requires increasingly strong squad depth, as this season we will compete in at least four separate competitions," stated Adhitia.
The 2026/2027 season will pose a major challenge for Persib, with the club scheduled to feature in the Super League, Indonesian Cup, Shopee Cup ASEAN Club Championship, and AFC Champions League Two.
According to Adhitia, maintaining player quality across every line of the pitch is the key for the team to remain competitive throughout the full season.
"To maintain consistent performance all season long, we need quality players in every position so that the team can operate at optimal competitive standards for every single match," he said.
Consistently Impressive Throughout Debut Season
Persib management assessed that Patricio Matricardi, Uilliam Barros, and Ramon Tanque have all demonstrated quality, professionalism, and tangible contributions during their first season with Maung Bandung.
Beyond helping Persib win the 2025/2026 Super League, all three players were noted for their consistent technical ability, playing character, and commitment to the team.
On this basis, the coaching team formally recommended all three players remain a core part of Persib's long-term project for the coming seasons.
Statistics For Persib's Three Foreign Players
Patricio Matricardi established himself as one of Persib's most vital defensive players throughout the previous season.
The Argentine defender appeared in 31 Super League matches and scored two goals. He also featured in 9 AFC Champions League Two fixtures, including the play-off rounds.
Meanwhile, Uilliam Barros delivered key contributions in the attacking sector. The Brazilian player registered 8 goals from 32 Super League appearances, plus an additional 2 goals from 9 matches in the AFC Champions League Two.
Ramon Tanque also performed effectively as Persib's lead striker. The Brazilian forward netted 8 goals from 28 Super League fixtures, alongside 1 goal from 8 appearances in the AFC Champions League Two.
Persib Targets Greater Achievements
These contract extensions running until 2028 demonstrate Persib's commitment to maintaining long-term squad stability.
Adhitia expressed hope that the three players will continue to develop and deliver even greater contributions as Persib faces competition at both domestic and Asian levels.
"We hope Matricardi, Barros and Ramon Tanque can keep progressing, maintain their consistent performance, and provide an even bigger impact for Persib. This season will bring significantly greater challenges, both in domestic competitions and across Asia," he concluded.
