Vietnam Holidays Get Easier as Vietjet Launches Direct Jakarta-Da Nang Route

The Southeast Asian travel scene has exciting news again. Vietnamese airline Vietjet has officially launched a direct Flight Route connecting Jakarta with one of Vietnam's most popular tourist destinations, Da Nang.

This news is certainly a breath of fresh air for Indonesian travelers wanting to explore Vietnam's charms without transiting. This new route is scheduled to begin operations on April 29, 2026, serving five round-trip flights weekly on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday.

In an official statement released in Jakarta, Vietjet described this route opening as a step to expand travel options for Indonesian tourists while strengthening tourism connectivity in Southeast Asia.

“This route provides more travel choices for Indonesian tourists to explore central Vietnam while strengthening connectivity between Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Southeast Asian region.”

For the flight schedule, aircraft with flight number VJ950 will depart from Soekarno-Hatta Airport at 18:20 WIB and arrive in Da Nang at 22:05 local time. Meanwhile flight VJ951 from Da Nang to Jakarta will depart at 13:25 and arrive in Jakarta at 17:20 local time.

With this route, Vietjet now operates five flight paths connecting Indonesia and Vietnam. Besides Jakarta–Da Nang, the airline also serves flights connecting Jakarta and Bali with two major Vietnamese cities: Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.

Da Nang, Asian Travelers' New Favorite Destination

For travel enthusiasts, Da Nang isn't just an ordinary beach city. This coastal destination is known as one of Vietnam's most complete tourist spots.

Travelers can enjoy panoramic white-sand beaches like My Khe Beach, frequently listed among Asia's most beautiful beaches. Its calm waves and long coastline make it perfect for relaxation and light Surfing.

Not far from the city, travelers can visit the ancient town full of colorful lanterns, Hoi An Ancient Town, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Additionally, there's the ancient temple complex My Son Sanctuary preserving traces of Champa civilization.

But the most iconic destination is undoubtedly Ba Na Hills, a Mountain Tourism area famous for the giant golden bridge shaped like divine hands, the Golden Bridge. This spot frequently goes viral on social media for its dramatic scenery.

For Indonesian travelers, this direct route is predicted to make trips to central Vietnam far more practical. Besides cutting travel time, tourists can easily use Da Nang as a gateway to explore various popular destinations in Vietnam.

Moreover, this route opening is expected to boost two-way tourism growth. Vietnamese tourists may become increasingly interested in visiting Indonesia's popular destinations.

Meanwhile, Vietjet also announced plans to expand its flight network in Southeast Asia. The airline is scheduled to launch a new route connecting Nha Trang with Singapore starting June 1, 2026.

With increasing direct routes between Southeast Asian countries, travelers now have more options to explore this region's fascinating destinations.
