Spanish rider Marc Marquez has yet to decide on extending his contract with the Ducati Lenovo Team, despite preliminary talks already beginning with the Italian manufacturer. Marquez currently remains under contract until the end of the 2026 season.

The future of the MotoGP world Champion for the 2025 season at Ducati remains uncertain after he delayed a decision regarding a Contract Extension.

In his statement, the Catalan rider acknowledged several points had been discussed with Ducati, but requested more time before making a final decision.

"Regarding the contract with Ducati, we've agreed on several points. As I said in the press conference, I've spoken to Ducati to wait a while," stated Marc Marquez, as quoted by MotoGP.com.

For Marquez, now is not the right time to discuss his long-term future on the racetrack.

His current priority is ensuring his physical condition fully recovers after a series of Injuries sustained in recent seasons.

He stressed that decisions about a new contract should be discussed once he feels comfortable riding the bike and competing on track again.

"Right now, I'm still recovering from Injury, and when we talk about the future, perhaps the right moment is when I feel comfortable riding again," said the seven-time world champion.

Injuries have indeed been a major factor in Marquez's career in recent years.

The rider with number 93 hasn't ruled out the possibility of ending his career earlier if his physical condition no longer allows him to compete at the highest level.

The start of the 2026 season hasn't been smooth for Marquez either. At the opening round in Thailand, he failed to finish the main race after experiencing tire issues at the Chang International Circuit.

Marquez now prepares for the next round, the Brazilian Grand Prix, set to take place at Autódromo Ayrton Senna on March 23rd.

The race in Brazil could be a crucial moment for Marquez to rediscover his best rhythm this season, while also providing a clearer picture of his future with Ducati in MotoGP.
