Good news has come from Ducati Lenovo Team ahead of the 2026 MotoGP Italian Grand Prix at Mugello. Reigning world Champion Marc Marquez has finally received medical clearance to return to the track and take part in the first free practice session, or FP1, this Weekend.
The Spanish rider is currently travelling to Italy after completing his recovery period from an Injury that forced him to miss the last two rounds of this MotoGP season.
"Following a successful procedure and several days of recovery, he (Marc) will now return to the track for FP1 at Mugello, ahead of a final medical check on Friday morning that will determine whether he is able to compete for the full race weekend," stated MotoGP on Thursday.

Marc sustained his injury during the French GP sprint race at Le Mans. The incident left him with a foot injury requiring surgery, on top of a procedure performed on his right shoulder which had also been damaged following a crash at MotoGP Indonesia last season.
While he has received initial clearance to race again, Marc's condition will continue to be closely monitored. His performance during Mugello FP1 will decide if he is fit enough to complete the full race schedule this weekend.
"Following positive medical assessments, Marc Marquez will depart for Mugello tomorrow. He is scheduled for a final trackside evaluation on Thursday to confirm his race clearance for the Italian Grand Prix," announced Ducati Lenovo Team via their official X account on Wednesday.
Marc's return is a huge morale boost for Ducati, as they prepare for their home round at the Mugello Circuit in Florence. The Italian Grand Prix is always one of the most important events for Ducati, as it is held in front of their home fanbase.
The number 93 rider will arrive not yet at full fitness, having undergone two separate surgeries in quick succession. Nevertheless, Ducati remains optimistic that Marc's presence will help them maintain their challenge at the top of this season's MotoGP Standings.
Marc currently sits in 9th place in the provisional Standings with 57 points. He is a significant distance behind championship leader Marco Bezzecchi of Aprilia Racing, who has accumulated 142 points so far.
This season's title fight is also tightening up: Jorge Martin holds 2nd place with 127 points, while Fabio Di Giannantonio of Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team occupies 3rd position on 116 points.
This weekend's Italian MotoGP will be a critical moment for Marc to assess his physical condition after his extended absence, as well as keep alive his hopes of defending his world championship title. Should he perform competitively at Mugello, Marc's comeback looks set to become one of the biggest storylines of the 2026 MotoGP season.
