"We'll monitor the situation. I understand many people will visit Bandung Zoo during the holidays," he stated in Bandung on Monday, March 9, 2026.
Potential Free Tourist Attraction During Eid
If reopened to the public, Bandung Zoo will likely implement a limited visitation system. However, travelers receive good news: entry is planned to remain Free.
"Even if it opens, admission will stay free but with restricted hours," he clarified.

Vital Green Space in Central Bandung
Beyond Tourism, Bandung Zoo serves a crucial ecological function as green space within the urban density.
Spanning approximately 11.7 hectares, this area represents one of Bandung's largest central open spaces. Its existence provides not only recreation but also Conservation functions and ecological benefits for the surrounding environment.
Therefore, the city government emphasizes that restructuring this area requires careful planning to maintain its environmental functions.
New Management Selection Ongoing
Meanwhile, the appointment process for new Bandung Zoo management continues. Authorities are conducting strict selection involving multiple stakeholders.
The selection committee comprises experts, cultural figures, provincial and city governments, as well as central government representatives.
"The concept is being redesigned, but core principles must be preserved," he explained.
In developing the new concept, the government prioritizes four fundamental aspects for area management:
"These aspects must be maintained in the new zoo concept by the selection team," he emphasized.
The four aspects include: water source and protected area conservation, land protection, employee welfare, and preservation of Bandung Zoo's historical value established decades ago.
Bandung City Government targets completing the new management selection by April 2026. If successful, Bandung Zoo could become an optimally managed Educational Tourism destination and vital urban green space.
