Assessment was based on various indicators, from business activity friendliness and recreational facility availability to tourist appeal.
Barcelona's score surpassed major cities like Amsterdam and Munich (each scoring 75) and Vienna (75.7). Meanwhile, London recorded a score of 64.8.
The findings also revealed surprises. Paris ranked only 66th. Its high cost of living and relatively lower sunlight exposure were cited as factors affecting its position.
This study indicates business travelers now prioritize not just work efficiency but also destination comfort.
Opportunities to enjoy the city atmosphere—even simply sunbathing—add significant value.
In recent years, Barcelona has rapidly developed as southern Europe's startup hub.
This business ecosystem growth has spurred improvements in supporting facilities, from co-working spaces to modern conference centers.
Barcelona now boasts 32.4 co-working spaces and 166 conference venues per 100 square kilometers.
Notably, many facilities are located near major tourist attractions, allowing business travelers to seamlessly transition from meetings to recreation without long commutes.
Practically, Barcelona's bleisure rhythm feels effortless. Meetings can conclude mid-afternoon, and within an hour, one can relax on the beach overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.
Connectivity is another key factor. Barcelona Airport offers 224 direct flights to global business hubs.
Most conference venues are just 15 minutes from recreational areas.
With 142 bars/cafés per 100 km², 75 tourist attractions, and 2,591 annual sunshine hours, Barcelona delivers a balance rarely found in other European cities.
