Eid Holiday in Jakarta always presents a different face of the city. Many residents take advantage of the Eid break by visiting Tourist Destinations in the capital. PT Transportasi Jakarta or TransJakarta will add bus fleets to several tourist destinations during the 2026 Eid holiday.

TransJakarta's Main Director, Welfizon Yuza, stated that several routes receiving reinforced fleets include Ancol, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, Ragunan, and Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK).

“So to Ancol, then to Taman Mini, Ragunan, and possibly PIK since there's already a PIK route. These are routes where we'll likely strengthen our fleet,” said Welfizon at Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday.

These four locations are indeed favorite destinations for Jakarta residents and surrounding communities to spend holiday time with family.

From beaches and amusement rides at Ancol, miniature cultural representations at Taman Mini, exotic animals at Ragunan, to culinary spots and waterfront areas at PIK—all offer distinct experiences within one city's radius.

Anticipating Passenger Surge, Reducing Waiting Time

According to Welfizon, fleet additions aim to maintain passenger waiting times and anticipate station overcrowding. Previous years' experiences show significant public movement toward tourist sites during Eid.

Beyond intracity tourist routes, TransJakarta is also evaluating potential fleet adjustments for TransJabodetabek services, including routes to Alam Sutera and Bogor. Additions will align with on-ground needs.

“We’ll monitor the demand and adjust fleet numbers accordingly,” he stated.

Free Public Transportation on Eid Day

On Eid Day, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government plans to waive fares for all Public Transportation. LRT, MRT, JakLingko, and TransJakarta will be accessible without charge.

However, technical clarification exists regarding the Rp0 fare that often raises public questions.

“Here's the situation: Transjakarta, MRT, and other systems require a nominal value even for Rp0 fares. Hence it's set at Rp1. Practically, Rp1 and Rp0 make no difference to passengers,” he explained.

He added that electronic money card systems require a rupiah amount to process transactions. Technically, the Rp0 fare is converted to Rp1.

“Since the system must register and deduct a rupiah value, Rp0 is converted to Rp1,” Welfizon clarified.

This means the service remains free for the public, though the payment system records Rp1 to enable normal transaction processing.

With added fleets and free transportation policies, Eid 2026 in Jakarta promises not only family gatherings but also seamless urban exploration—from northern coasts to southern green spaces.(Antara)
