Sharp performances don't automatically guarantee Benjamin Šeško a starting spot in Manchester United's frontline. Despite starting to score regularly and making the difference in several crucial Premier League matches, his status as the Red Devils' main striker remains unconfirmed.

The 22-year-old Slovenian striker has netted three goals in United's last four Premier League games.

Interestingly, all three crucial contributions came when he entered the pitch as a substitute, proving both his effectiveness and maturity in understanding his role.

United manager Michael Carrick emphasized that Šeško's development is heading in the right direction, but the process still requires patience.

"Ben is in a good place right now and we've talked about that. Patience is one of the factors that will help him develop," Carrick stated, quoted from the club's website on Tuesday.

Carrick believes Šeško has the potential to become a great player for United. However, to reach that level, he must continue improving his skills and maximize every opportunity.

"He's patient and understands, you know, he's going to be a big player for us for a long time, I'm sure. So, we have to manage that. We have some very good forwards and he's made a massive difference for us when he's been on the pitch, but that's clearly a decision we will take going forward," he concluded.

The Super-Sub Who Changes Games

In the last four matches, Šeško has performed as a super-sub, consistently making an instant impact.

His late goal against Fulham secured a 3-2 win. He then saved United from defeat by securing a 1-1 draw against West Ham United. Most recently, his solitary goal ensured a 1-0 victory over Everton at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Overall, Šeško has made 24 appearances across all competitions since joining from RB Leipzig in the 2025/2026 summer transfer window, scoring eight goals and providing one assist.

However, under Carrick, he hasn't started a single game. Carrick has more often deployed Bryan Mbeuomo as the spearhead, flanked by Marhus Cunha and Amad Diallo on the wings.

Šeško: Five Minutes or 90 Minutes, No Problem

Amid speculation about starting opportunities, Šeško has instead shown a mature attitude. For him, the important thing whenever he enters the pitch is helping the team.

"Whether it's five minutes or 90 minutes, it doesn't really matter. The most important thing is to show that I can contribute anytime," said Šeško, quoted from Fabrizio Romano's official X account on Tuesday.

Interestingly, after scoring only two goals in his first 20 appearances for United, Šeško is now on fire with five goals in his last six games.

The victory over Everton returned United to fourth place in the Premier League's temporary Standings with 48 points.
