The Indonesian Futsal Federation (FFI) has announced the 25 players included in the provisional squad (long list) for the Indonesian National Futsal Team. This announcement marks the initial step in preparations for the ASEAN Futsal Championship 2026 in Nonthaburi, Thailand, scheduled for April 5-12, 2026.

Subsequently, these players will undergo a training camp to determine the final Garuda Squad composition for the regional tournament.

Amidst increasingly fierce competition in Southeast Asia, this list forms the foundational groundwork towards achieving their performance targets in Thailand.

Selection from Elite Competition

According to the FFI, the 25 players summoned are the result of selection and monitoring by the coaching staff throughout domestic competitions.

All players on the list come from clubs participating in the top-tier league, the Pro Futsal League (PFL).

This call-up reinforces the PFL's role as the primary source for player development and supply to the national team, coinciding with the rising quality of competition at the league level.

The domestic league now serves as a tactical and physical laboratory, where players are honed before donning the Garuda emblem on their chests.

Not the Final Squad

Despite the announcement, the FFI emphasizes that this list is not yet the final squad. The next stage will be the announcement of the shortlist of players who will participate in the training camp.

This means the competition is far from over. Players on the long list are expected to maintain their performance and physical condition throughout the remainder of the league matches to secure a spot in the training camp phase.

The composition of the 25 players includes three goalkeepers, four anchors and flank-anchors, ten flanks, five pivots and flank-pivots, and three all-around players.

This structure demonstrates a balance between defense, transition, and attacking power – crucial elements in modern futsal which demands high intensity throughout the match.

Heading to Nonthaburi

The ASEAN Futsal Championship 2026 in Nonthaburi will be the ultimate test for the Merah Putih (Red and White) squad.

Thailand, as the host, remains the dominant force in the region, while Vietnam and Malaysia continue to develop.

With the 25 names on the provisional list, the Indonesian National Futsal Team begins its journey towards the regional tournament, built on a competitive foundation from the domestic league.
