However, the most enduring memory comes from his childhood. Back then, a Golf Ball landed near him on the 8th green. Curiosity made him move closer to see what brand the ball was.
"I had never heard of Ram. What is Ram? I was only eight, right?" Woods recalled.
While he was engrossed in looking at the ball, a caddie approached and pushed him aside to get him to move.
"So I used to tease him about that a lot," Woods joked.
He later learned that the caddie was Bruce Edwards, who worked for Tom Watson. Edwards gave a straightforward response when recalling the incident.
"Yeah, you were in the way."
Rather than being a bitter experience, that moment became part of Woods' early education about the professional golf world. He realized that the course was a serious competitive space, full of discipline and efficiency.
Riviera then witnessed his transformation. From a curious spectator boy, Woods evolved into a professional player and now hosts the Genesis Invitational. For him, returning to Riviera always brings nostalgia.
"For me, that's part of the cool things about being here at Riv," he said.
The 2026 Genesis Invitational is not only a competition for top players like Scottie Scheffler or Collin Morikawa, but also a stage for reflection for Woods. He sees Riviera as his first learning space about pressure, mentality, and interaction with the gallery.
That simple story about a push from a caddie became a symbol of his long journey. From the edge of the green to the pinnacle of world golf, Tiger Woods proves that every legend has a simple starting point, sometimes even beginning with a short command.
