Former Portugal National Team winger Luis Nani revealed a lesser-known side of Cristiano Ronaldo. Having played together at both club and national team levels, Nani described his compatriot as a "bad loser" due to his difficulty accepting defeat.

Nani and Ronaldo were teammates at Sporting CP, Manchester United, and the Portugal National Team. However, their partnership was most intense at Manchester United and with the national team.

Statistically, they played together in 130 matches. At Manchester United, Nani and Ronaldo shared the pitch in 54 games during the 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 seasons. For the Portugal National Team, the two wingers paired up in 76 matches from 2006 to 2017.

Having known Ronaldo since their youth, Nani claims to deeply understand the superstar's character. He first met CR7 when both were in Sporting CP's youth team.

As reported by Four Four Two, Nani recounted his journey before joining Sporting.

"It was quite an unusual situation, training with Benfica and Sporting at the same time," said Nani.

"Ultimately, I chose Sporting because I had friends there. And honestly, it was also the club I liked most," he added.

After officially joining Sporting CP's academy, Nani began witnessing Ronaldo's immense ambition firsthand. He stated that even as a youngster, Ronaldo stood out compared to other academy-level players.

"Even as a kid, he stood above everyone else. He knew exactly what he wanted," explained Nani.

Nani also highlighted Ronaldo's intensely competitive mentality and his struggle with accepting defeat.

"Cristiano plays Football with great passion. If he didn't win or things didn't go well, he would cry."

"That shows how committed he is and the intensity he brings to the game," he concluded.

This so-called "bad loser" character actually fueled Ronaldo's continuous development. When results didn't meet expectations, he chose to work harder and improve himself.

This mentality propelled Cristiano Ronaldo to become one of the 21st century's greatest footballers, competing at the highest level alongside Lionel Messi. His array of individual and collective achievements stand as proof—from four Ballon d’Or trophies and Champions League titles to league championships in England, Spain, and Italy.
