Banyuwangi offers more than just Kawah Ijen or Pulau Merah as must-visit Tourist Destinations. Shift slightly to Glagah District, where you'll find the Tourism Village of Osing Kemiren Traditional Village – a "time capsule" crowned one of the World's Best Tourism Villages by UN Tourism in 2025.

It's not merely about annual visitor numbers reaching 4,000, but How Kemiren preserves traditions amid modernization's pressures.

Kemiren isn't a "plastic" tourist village staged for photos. Here, culture breathes through daily life. From traditional Coffee to Mepe Kasur rituals, each practice carries deep philosophy. Post-pandemic revival remains a core mission for locals.

Moh Edy Saputro, Head of Kemiren's Tourism Awareness Group, shared their ambitious vision:

"Pre-pandemic visits peaked at 18,000 people in 2019. Now we're strategically integrating culture into Tourism to reclaim that milestone," he explained.

For Slow Travel enthusiasts, Kemiren is paradise. Imagine waking in one of 40 authentic Osing Tribe homestays.

Approximately 22 Culinary MSMEs and craft shops operate alongside 18 active art studios preserving Osing cultural rhythms.

"Tourism sustains our art studios – all 18 in Kemiren exclusively conserve Osing traditions," Edy added.
