Great news for those who've started planning their Christmas and New Year 2025/2026 holidays. The government is preparing a discount program for public transportation tickets so people can travel more affordably during the year-end holiday season.
Through its official website, the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) announced this stimulus covers four transportation modes simultaneously: air travel, trains, sea vessels, and ferries.
Each mode has its own discount schedule, allowing people to choose according to their travel needs.

Flight Ticket Discounts
Kemenhub explained flight ticket discounts apply for purchases from October 22, 2025, to January 10, 2026.
The flight period runs from December 22, 2025, to January 10, 2026.
To keep fares affordable, the government and operators prepared various incentives, including VAT exemption for economy flight tickets, fuel surcharge discounts, and avtur price reductions at 37 airports.
The aim is to prevent airfare spikes during peak holidays, ensuring smooth public mobility.
Train Ticket Discounts
Train passengers get 30% off regular ticket prices from December 22, 2025, to January 10, 2026.
Kemenhub stated this policy should reduce travel costs while encouraging people to use more efficient and comfortable rail-based mass transit during holidays.
Sea Vessel Ticket Discounts
For sea transportation, discounts start earlier (December 17, 2025 - January 10, 2026) with 20% off regular prices.
This program targets archipelagic communities to maintain affordable travel.
Additionally, it supports smooth logistics and passenger flows during Christmas and New Year.
Ferry Ticket Discounts
Ferry operators will eliminate port service fees for regular class and reduce executive-class tickets to regular-class prices.
This policy runs from December 22, 2025, to January 10, 2026, aiming to ease inter-island travel costs, especially for frequent ferry users.
Still Being Finalized But Announced Early
Kemenhub is collaborating with the Ministry of SOEs and Ministry of Finance to finalize stimulus implementation.
Transport operators will prepare early socialization so the public can immediately learn technical details.
With these cross-mode discounts, Nataru holidays are predicted to be busier and more economical.
