For those who love Traveling, news about rising Airplane Ticket prices might make your Holiday Plans a bit shaky. But rest assured, the government ensures the increase in domestic flight fares remains within reasonable limits, around 9–13 percent.
This policy emerged in response to the surge in avtur prices triggered by conflict in the Middle East region. Despite this, the government is working hard to keep travel costs affordable, especially for Domestic Tourists.
"To ensure the increase in domestic ticket prices remains affordable for the public, the government is limiting the price hike to around 9-13 percent. So ticket prices are in the range of 9-13 percent," said Airlangga Hartarto in a press conference in Jakarta.

Strategy to Keep Tickets Affordable
Several steps have been prepared so you can still travel without overspending.
One of the most impactful measures is providing a tax incentive in the form of an 11 percent VAT Government-Borne (DTP) specifically for economy class tickets.
"Based on these calculations, the amount of subsidy provided by the government is approximately Rp1.3 trillion per month. So, if we prepare for two months, this amounts to Rp2.6 trillion," he said.
This policy will be in effect for two months and will continue to be evaluated according to global conditions.
Additionally, the government has also abolished import duties for aircraft spare parts, effectively setting it at 0 percent. This step aims to reduce airlines' operational costs, which ultimately could help keep ticket prices stable.
"So, aircraft spare parts are given a 0 percent import duty, which is expected to also lower the operational costs of Airlines," he explained.
What is Fuel Surcharge and Why is it Rising?
For those who frequently book tickets, you might have seen an additional cost component called fuel surcharge. This is an extra fee charged by airlines to adjust for fuel price fluctuations.
Currently, the government has set the upper limit for fuel surcharge at 38 percent, applicable to both jet and propeller aircraft.
Previously, the limit for jet aircraft was only 10 percent and 25 percent for propeller aircraft. This means there is a significant increase, especially for jet aircraft.
"In setting the fuel surcharge, we have coordinated with all airlines operating in Indonesia, especially domestic ones, so we could determine that the increase for the fuel surcharge is 38 percent," explained Dudy Purwagandhi.
Interesting Fact: Indonesian Avtur Prices Remain Competitive
Despite the increase, the current price of avtur in Indonesia is Rp23,551 per liter. Interestingly, this figure is still lower than several neighboring countries.
For comparison, avtur prices in Thailand reach Rp29,518 per liter, while in the Philippines it's around Rp25,326 per liter. This means Indonesia remains quite competitive in maintaining aviation operational costs.
With the various interventions by the government, the increase in ticket prices is being managed to avoid overburdening travelers. For those who already have Holiday plans, now is the time to budget smarter, choose the right flight time, and take advantage of available promotions.
Because ultimately, traveling isn't about cheap or expensive, it's about the experiences you gain on every journey.
