Persib Bandung closed the first half of BRI Super League 2025/2026 with a strong foundation. Amidst the tight competition at the top, Maung Bandung's defensive line was the most solid. However, behind that toughness, Persib Bandung's coach, Bojan Hodak, acknowledged one homework assignment: sharpening the attacking line.

Bojan Hodak expressed high satisfaction with his team's defensive performance after completing the first half of the competition. The resilience of the defense was the main reason Persib remained consistently competitive in the championship race.

Bojan emphasized the importance of game balance, with defense as the primary foundation.

"Looking at the results and Standings, the most crucial aspect is certainly the defense performing well. So far, our defense has been the best in the league, and this is undoubtedly the key (to success)," stated Bojan as quoted from the club's official website on Thursday, January 15, 2026.

Standings data reinforced this claim. Persib Bandung recorded the fewest goals conceded in the first round of the 2025/2026 Super League, allowing only 11 goals in 17 matches. This was the best record among all league participants.

Persib's defensive dominance felt even stronger at home. In eight home matches, Bojan Hodak's squad conceded just one goal. This statistic highlighted how difficult it was to breach Maung Bandung's defense in front of Bobotoh supporters.

Persib outperformed its closest rivals. Persija Jakarta and Persita Tangerang both conceded 14 goals, while Borneo FC and Persebaya Surabaya each allowed 16 goals.

However, this defensive solidity wasn't fully matched by attacking sharpness. Persib actually had the lowest goal productivity among the top four in the provisional standings.

After 17 matches, Persib Bandung scored only 27 goals. This was less productive than Malut United (33 goals), Persija Jakarta (32 goals), and Borneo FC (31 goals).

Bojan Hodak acknowledged this imbalance and confirmed evaluations would be conducted, specifically to enhance the team's offensive firepower.

Nevertheless, the Croatian coach stressed he wasn't overly concerned and remained optimistic heading into the second round of the competition.

"Because attacks can win matches. But defense can win championships," Bojan asserted.
